Care-giving that spans a lifetime, because it's my nature. Providing care in both home and facility settings. In the personal realm, I helped raise a well-adjusted and good human, who has herself become an exceptional mother. We welcomed a first grandchild, in 2016, who is the light of my life, the second in 2019, a sweet/tart little spitfire, and are expecting a third soon! Such a joy! In the mid-1990s, my sister and I operated an in-home daycare, so we could have social time for my daughter. We were new to the area, with no connections and limited resources. That was a busy time! In the early-2000s, I subbed in an Adult Daycare/Work Center and associated group homes, for developmentally disabled adults (Counterpoint, Inc). I've also volunteered with Eagle Mount. When my daughter was 3-1/2, I began working on a BS in Environmental Science. It took a little extra time, but I got it done in 2003. I worked in industry for 12+ years, before my next caregiving "gig". In 2016, we learned that the cancer, put in check in 2012, had returned and metastasized, in my Grandfather. It was always my plan to care for them, in this stage of life. I spent much of 2017 teamed up with my Grandmother. We made it through. My Grandfather died at home, surrounded by his wife and children. In addition to metastatic lung cancer, he experienced Lewy body dimension. On returning home, I worked as a Life Skills Trainer, in a group home for adults with traumatic brain injuries (Liberty Place). The individuals served are medically and psychologically complex. I experienced crisis situations with two residents, was able to support them, help them stay safe, and both made it through. Services included medication management, scheduling, transport, and advocacy, in addition to help in relearning life skills and providing recreational opportunities.

I am a kind and compassionate caregiver and enjoy forming a relationship with those I serve. Working as a caregiver and helping others remain in their home and receive the best services possible is my personal goal and that is what I seek to accomplish with my caregiving. I am proud that I have worked over the years to assist others to remain in their homes and not to have to access institutional options. Working well with families is important to me and I feel that I am a member of a team with my consumers best interests at heart.

I have less than a year of experience on being a paid caregiver but I do have more than 20 years of experience in doing caregiving.

I love helping people! My favorite thing to do is listen to the elderly, and what they have been through in their lives. I have patience, and respect, and I realize that everyone wants things done differently. I am open to learning new things and am also a quick learner. When I was 20 years old, my boyfriends mother was very sick and she had a stroke, so she wasn't able to use one side of her arm and I assisted her and she felt comfortable enough to ask me for help to go to the bathroom and as well as other things including hygiene care. Ever since then I have wanted to help take care of people, especially those that aren't able to do things for themselves. I enjoy being with the patient's, learning what they like and what makes them feel comfortable. A personal achievement that I am proud of, is having a resident remember me, or like me because of the care that I have given them, and the compassion that was shown.

I am a very friendly, generally happy person and am also a good listener. I work extremely hard working and really enjoy caring for people. Making other people's day a little better makes me happy. I have my CNA license and have worked some in the hospital (clinicals) in a care giving type role. I am most proud of making it into nursing school and getting one step closer to my goal of being a nurse.

This is super sensitive subject to me but as much as they tell you don't get close to your residents/patients I always seems to grow close to them. Even I left my place of employment the family of each resident reached out and with their permission I would see them until they were no longer with us. I have seen soooo much through my life and have held many hands that are no longer with us and remained contact with their relatives. I love love love our elders so much and any of my references would tell you the same. I adapt quickly and learn quickly. I promise you that you will get one of kind care. It's hard to find that now a days as I was leaving my last job it was more so who could be buddy buddy with the boss that got promoted or got their voice heard. I will always fight for what is right and make sure my resident/patient was heard. Again you will not regret your decision when I am taking care of your loved one. They end my being my loved one. My name is Stephani and I am a single mother of three. I have been a teacher/caregiver for 5 1/2 years. Teaching is my passion and I love not only kids but people. It is in my nature to be nurturing, kind and I helpful. I ended up being a caregiver by chance and it just fit from the get go. I think what I have enjoyed most about being a caregiver is knowing that I am making a difference in someone's life and hopefully leaving them with a smile on their face. One thing I am proud of in all of my years of caregiving was my ability to always keep calm and loving in the most difficult situations. I am always willing to help and I always try my best in any situation.

I have been working with the elderly for one year and four months now. I went to an assisted living facility to volunteer and ended up applying for a job instead. I have never had a more rewarding job! I love taking care of those who aren't able to take care of themselves. They lived a full life with ups and downs just like all of us, and I still feel they deserve to experience more ups in their last stages of life. I start my CNA training in April and I am beyond excited! I love to make people smile/laugh and feel comfortable in their own home.
