I have a very open personality to people of all kinds. I do not discriminate or judge based on someone's past or present. What attracted me to being a caregiver of sorts, is caring for my father when he was dying with stage 4 lung cancer. After the treatments stopped he declined rapidly and I was at his bedside 24/7 delivering medications every 3 hours and bathing, changing, cleaning, administering as much fluids as he could take and attempting to have him eat. As well as many hugs, kisses and love from his little girl. Helping him in his degrading state is what is helping me cope with his passing. If I could give back to people who don't have family or loved ones such as a daughter to do what I did for my father I would love to provide that to someone. It would make me feel like I was in this area of work for the right reasons. I enjoy being able to be a companion to someone who is lonely because I certainly couldn't fathom having no one and being elderly. I am proud of the fact that I stayed by my fathers side until the end no matter how heart breaking it was to watch him lay there like that. In the end I know I did the right thing and that feeling beats anything else I've ever experienced. Humbling to say the least.
