1. I want to provide as much care for our seniors while they are still with us. I plan on returning to school in the future and getting my Associates Degree in Nursing and eventually my Master's Degree in Gerontology. I currently have a bachelor's in Human Development and Family Sciences. 2. I live being a caregiver because I get to spend time with the elderly, listen to their stories, and help them in any way I can. Most are lonely and their families live a fair distance away, or have family who choose not to visit. I would hope I would add some level of comfort, support, and entertainment to thei r fulfill their days. 3. Understanding and preferring patients with Alzheimer's Disease. I had a client in the past who was combative with her daughter during her shower. I watched my client's behavior and tried to assess what would make her more comfortable and willing to bath. After my second attempt she would sing and hum in the shower and tell me she loved me. It relieved a lot of the daily stress for her and her loved one and provided an easier start to her days. 4. I see adult caregiving as something we should all do for our elderly and not feel like it's a chore. They are the generations who paved the way for all of us today and I would like to give back in anyway I can.
