I have been a caregiver for two years now, although I do feel that I have been a caregiver unofficially longer than that due to when I was younger I used to take care of my sick uncle before he passed with difficulties of diabetes, and my mother used to be a caregiver before she moved on with careers and I always used to help her with her patient. Her patient and his wife considered us family because we cared greatly for them.I had a patient for a long period of time who was an elderly woman and her family and herself loved me I was always complimented on the care I provided for her and her doctors told me her health inclined when she was in my care. She lived alone and was not too efficient alone to do things for herself so I pretty much did everything for her. I kept her company and followed up with her doctors and appointments while keeping her organized in which lead to my great recognition for being of assistance to her as her caregiver. I have worked with younger patients with disabilities and special needs. I have worked with a patient who has Parkinson's disease and was not mobile or verbal, he needed help with mobility and walking so I monitored his bowel movements and his eating I was more of aid to him because his mother was a retired stay at home mother so she needed assistance so I assisted bathing as well and keeping him company and assured that through paying close attention being that he wasn't verbal his needs were met as accurate as possible.
