A great caregiver is someone who shows up and gives one hundred percent. I always try to put things into perspective and give the care I would expect my loved one to receive. Because I am a nurturer, I enjoy taking care of other people and making them more comfortable in their environment (whatever their environment may look like). It is so important to have someone who has your best interest in mind and I make sure to do that. I have spent a lot of time with people who suffer from neurological disorders, specifically the aftermath of a stroke or brain injury, and am well aware that it looks different for each person. Sometimes being a caregiver means simply listening and identifying a persons needs. I plan to become a Nurse Practitioner and although working as a Nurse Aide is just a stop on my overall plan, I realize I can never lose that patient to patient contact because it is vital for someone's healing process.
