I am enthusiastic and passionate about taking care of older adult. I have tons of experience! I am 38 years old. I graduated UNC Chapel Hill in 2003 with a BA in communications. I worked as an executive assistant for 8 years in Raleigh prior to persuing my career in healthcare. I worked part-time at Springmoor Retirement Community for an elderly couple until they transitioned into intensive around-the-clock care. I also worked for a homecare agency out of Kernersville, NC that eventually closed due to internal management changes. I also spent a year on the telemetry floor as a cardiac technician at Moses Cone Hospital. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNAI) and I am up to date on my healthcare provider CPR, AED and BLS for healthcare workers. I am very positive-thought focused, energetic and easy to get along with. My goal is to enjoy time with my patients/clients while making their quality of life as comfortable as possible by doing anything I can in any area of their lives to assist them. If you are looking for a well-qualified, highly dependable and compassionate caregiver then I can certainly be of service. If you would like to see my complete resume including all experience and qualifications as well as descriptions of responsibilities at prior positions please email me at shpatterson801@gmail.com. I am a mother of three daughters . I have always been taking care of someone. When I was a teen I babysat and in my late teens I took care of my grandmother who was dying of cancer. I have done fill in work for my aunt who use to work as an in home aid caregiver. I have worked for two years in a chiropractic office working with older people. I enjoy being with people and learning from them and being able to help them to live their lives to the best of their abilities. That is what I love about care giving. It is not just a job but a way of connecting to other people and being able to help them and do it for a living. I am proud of being able to raise my daughters because I have been a single parent for the majority of their lives. I obtained my Associates degree while raising them and I am twenty four hours away from receiving my Bachelors degree in Christian Counseling and Caregiving and my daughters are my reason for continuing to get better as a person.

I am the mother of three great kids (all adult). Caring for my grandmother prior to her death gave me a whole new perspective about end of life care. And although it was a short time, it made an impact on me. I like to cook and don't mind cleaning or running errands. Sometimes just spending time with someone who is lonely can really make a difference in their life. One of the things I am most proud of is my participation in the making of a documentary that is now registered in the Library of Congress. I was able to interview Bennett College alumni from 1958. They were lovely ladies to work with.
