About Lynn

I became a caregiver to help others, as I have always possessed an innate desire to do just that. Since elders can't always communicate themselves, I felt a compelling need to do this for them in the best way I knew possible. Naturally, I enjoy that rewarding feeling you get from being a Caregiver but it goes deeper than that. Addressing a problem (emotionally or clinically ) by noticing that something just isn't right or \\\\\\"off' and rectifying it is even more gratifying! I am proud that I was able to attend a private school in NC, and become a Medical Assistant. It definitely expanded my horizons, and \\\\\\"opened new doors\\\\\\" for me. With my diploma, I gained valuable experience in physician offices. For several years, I enjoyed working as a Medical Assistant but missed the camaraderie of conversing and interacting with the senior population. Eventually, I changed roles, and returned to home healthcare. As Caregiver, I pledge that I will give 100% to all clients promoting compassion, kindness, competence, dependability while striving to provide the utmost in nurturing care.

I assisted my client with activities of daily living in all capacities. She hired me on a private basis to assist her as her prognosis began declining. Her care has consisted of personal needs, but to a greater extent, it has consisted of assistance in cleaning, laundry, cooking, shopping, errands, etc. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with her, and she will truly be missed as she begins a new journey in an "assisted living home".

Responsibilities changed as my client declined in health with Alzheimer's. Initially, I monitored all activities of daily living; my client was not totally bedridden at this time. There were CNA's that were in charge of caring for all of her needs. Due to staff shortage, and long delay in care, I took charge and began pursuing all personal care. This included transferring client from bed to wheelchair and vice versa. As clients' mental and physical health deteriorated, we discontinued the transfer preventing us from going out on terrace when the weather was nice. Responsibilities included bathing, assisting client with feeding, turning and repositioning client in bed every couple hours or as needed, personal hygeine, diaper changing, vitals, etc.

In this position, I performed domestic chores as well as care giving. This client ambulated with a walker; she was a fall risk so observed her closely when walking. Other responsibilities included ROM exercises assigned by Physical Therapist, assisting toileting, transferring as needed, outings and errands, medication reminders, etc.
