I am an LPNC, am 53 y/o female and have been working with people since age 19 when I became an nurses aide. I obtained my medication aide and after 10 years I decided to become a nurse. I really enjoy working with the elderly and learning from their wisdom. I can see areas for potential problems with their skin, nutritional input, adequate hydration. I have knowledge about medication. I don't remember my grandparents, they passed on when I was young, so this gives me a variety of people to enjoy in my life. I enjoy being their helper and learning about their families. Seeing pictures of them when they were young or just married. I am proud of the fact that I've never had a personal complaint from a resident in all my years of working with them reported to a supervisor.
For as long as I can remember I have had an innate need to help people. My want to help others is part of the reason I obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and can utilize my understanding of human behavior to enrich the lives of others through service or just being there. I find it to be very fulfilling to be someone another person can rely on because I have an internal belief was are supposed to care for one another and help each other. It has made me proud to pass this perspective on to my own kids and actually see it in their daily lives.
I am a mom of two sweet little boys. Have been a stay at home mom since my youngest was born. But recently have been left as a single mom. I was a CNA since I was a sophomore in high school. Caring for others is in my DNA. I absolutely loved the work in the nursing homes but hated the rush and lack of time to commit to each of my residents. I love to listen and learn about others. I love to make others smile or laugh.
I have been passionate about Senior Care my entire life and career. I believe in quality of life and the overall well being of each individual. My area of expertise is with people who have Alzheimer's and dementia. I have continued to expand my career with education credits and through hands on experience. I am truly interested in the opportunity to help those to stay in their homes to the best of their ability with dignity and respect.
