I assist with daily activities, such as dressing, bathing, and eating. I also have a role in keeping them safe and comfortable. I became a nurses aide because I once was a full time Single mother to my special needs daughter (cerebral palsy and quadriplegic). I am a natural nurturer . Hello, I'm Heather. I became a caregiver because I believe it is my Destiny. My grandmother was 80yrs old when she went into a diabetic COMA, (we didn't know that she was diabetic) we (the family members) were all called in to say our goodbyes,because after 2wks her heart was failing . I got there last to say my goodbye, and as soon as I started speaking to her, "my grandmother awoked" and started speaking to me, she called me by my name right away. I still remember the profound impact it had on me,it activated something within me,i vowed i would always take care of my grandmother to the best of my ability .The Dr. Wanted my Grandmother to be placed in a nursing HOME but she refused, so the Dr. suggested we trained to take care of her at home. From then on I knew that I was called to do this work,helping others like my Grandmother. We all became nurses because we loved and respected her so much, my Grandmother passed 8yrs later,but we all made sure that it was the most loving, respectful, most dignified time before she passed. Needless to say when she passed, we were all surrounding her with all our love and gratitudes. She died with a BIG smile on her face, I always remember that smile and in my work I aim to inspire all my patients to smile .My Grandmother's illness became a blessing for my family and me,I would love the opportunity to assist and share my blessing with your family in the most caring, compsssionate and loving manner. A little about myself is I have always wanted a career in healthcare no matter what the field is. I love being able to help people. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is being able to put a smile on someone's face and also being basically an extra set of hands. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is I started off by taking care of my Grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia in 2013 and sadly passed away in 2017. I wanted to make a difference in people's lives so I decided to make a career out of it. I take pride in being a caregiver and knowing that I am trusted to help out someone else's loved one. One of my most proudest achievements is completing my EMT Course in two months!

I enjoy taking care of individuals out of love and integrity. I have worked with individual's with brain injuries, hospice care, companionship Alzheimer's or dementia. Training with Hoyalift, wheel chair transfers, shower buddy, standard stander. I have also coached individuals with physical therapy occupational therapy & aquatic therapy I am detail oriented reliable responsible honest trustworthy

As a young adult all I knew was my grandmother. She taught me everything I knew until she got sick. Her body started to break down and I had to take care of her. I prepared her meals, breakfast and dinner and gave her showers also dressed her. She got really bad and she was forced into a nursing home because nobody was able to give her the proper care she needed. She passed away in the nursing home. I felt nothing but guilt that I didn't have the skills to take care of her so she could be comfortable at her own home. So I made an effort to be the best CNA for others on this planet. So their families can get proper care in the comfort of their homes.
