I am happiest and most fulfilled while caring for others. I fell in love with nursing in 1978 when I started my first job as a Nursing Assistant. I found that I was not only doing a job, I was caring for a person with an extensive life history that I could learn from. People who had family who loved them but were no longer able to care for them. I went on to get my LPN in 1986 and finally RN in 2012. I have provided care in Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Centers, private care in homes, Home Care through agencies and have cared for my patients and their families with integrity and compassion. Aging parents have caused me to reevaluate the need for flexibility and the availability to now also provide care for them. This means the typical nursing block schedule is no longer a good fit for my families needs. I will continue to provide compassionate care for others but it will look different than it has in the past.

I have been in the direct care field for 6 years now. I have completed therapeutic intervention and behavior management courses that help people with special needs from birth to death. I currently work as a special needs teacher for the Monticello school district. I have a deep passion for individualized assistance. I am a 53 year old female that has been in Healthcare for 20+ years. I am a certified nursing assistant. I truly enjoy working with people and this is definitely a passion of mine. I am married to a wonderful man and together we have raised two amazing children who are now young adults on their own. I lost my job of 8 years recently due to the company down sizing. I want to get back into working with the elderly and giving them caring and compassionate companionship.

I know this sounds lame, but I always knew I wanted to be a nurse. I love the rewarding feeling I get from giving. Now, when I was a kid that was another story. I carried all of my toys in a brown grocery bag and you would have to fight me to get me to share! I love listening and learning from others. I feel that this has only improved my caregiving skills. I have worked with all ages, races, religions, disabilities and I treat each person the same. We all deserve dignity and respect regardless of our situation. I'm kind, but love to laugh and have a good time. Most importantly I know how to act appropriate for the situation.
