I am an extremely caring person. I am retired after a long career in the medical field. I have worked in many physician offices and hospitals and my favorite part of the job was always when I worked one on one with patients. I have the "it" factor, a heart and compassion. Not everyone does especially in today's world. I feel truly fulfilled helping someone. I would love to be a companion for an elderly person to make their quality of life better and to know that I brought someone happiness and joy.

I'm bilingual nurse aide experience with clinic skills, knowledgeable that I learned through my education and on the job settings. I became a Caregiver because I needed the certification for another job that I thought I would be well suited for. I thought I would fair out well as a Lab Tech for one of the local mental hospitals. Not long after I'd graduated from the CNA program and had begun working as a Lab Tech in the hospital clinic, I discovered the hospital was due to close in less than a year ; there were no openings at any of the sister branches. I took a job with a visiting nurse agency as a Phlebotomist / CNA. Although they had more CNA work than Phlebotomy, I needed a job and lacked experience. The job also offered a year long course in disease management coaching and had good benefits. As time passed, I began to work in other areas of caregiving to see what my specialty might be and decided I liked working with seniors; they seemed to have tons of life experience and didn't mind sharing it ( I often found myself wondering if should've been paying them for all they taught me - important things about life I never even thought of !), They seemed to really appreciate anything I did for them. I find the intrinsic value of serving the elders rewarding. Since discovering what my passion is, I've done nothing else.

I have been doing this profession for 15 years. I love caring for the elderly. I am a very social person. I also have an 84-year-old mother that I care for on a daily basis. I treat my individuals as i would want my mom treated. I am reliable and my clients wait for me to arrive. I enjoy caregiving because I know I have made a difference in a person day, whether it be them feeling alone and giving them companionship. Every mature aged person has a story I love listening to their stories. I believe that everyone deserves dignity I am able to provide my clients dignity, showering them taking them to get their hair done or even their nails done. I do a great job cleaning. I have been employed at the ARC Ocean County for 12 yrs, and before that the ARC of Monmouth County 7yrs. I have worked as Special Needs Program assistant and have worked my way up to an assistant manager of a residential supervised apartments.
