I started caregiving for my grandmother who was suffering from dementia. Being a good caregiver requires a lot of patience. I provide that to people in my care and hope to assist them in ways that improve their quality of life. One of my greatest accomplishments as a caregiver was seeing someone recover cognitive ability after switching from nursing home to in home care.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I pay attention to details. I do exactly what I'm told, asked and also give advice according to my expertise and I tell the truth about what is needed when it matters. I first started working with elders within my monastery taking care of their basic needs and taking them back and forth to doctor's appointments and following their doctors care of plan. That transmitted to my professional work life as a certified nursing aide, as I work in the nursing homes and also in private home settings. It brings me joy to see those who are in need of help receive the assistance that they need without taking away their dignity and also giving them the extra help that's necessary.... at the same time allowing them to do what they can for themselves.
