Hi my name is Asha Singh I became a caregiver at a young age. Then I lived in Trinidad, I was 17 years old when my grandmother got sick, being the eldest I had to help care for grandma. I help nursed my grandmother for 5 years. It was really hard to do being so young, but it was worth it on the days my grand mother felt better. After my grand mother passed I tried doing other types of jobs like working in a department store and a fast food outlet but I was not happy. I got married and my father in law was not a healthy person. I started taking care of pa and I was happy doing it. Things did not work out with my husband and I so I got divorced and move here in 2002. I worked as a baby sitter for a few weeks. Even thought it was a care giver job it was I was not happy. A friend of mine was taking care of a wonderful woman in her home but she could not work 7days a week, she offered me the weekend job and I took it. I have been working as a caregiver since then. I worked with my lady from 2002 until 2005. When my job came to an end I started working as a Home Health Aid with an agency. I worked with the agency for about 3 years before they let me go. One of the most important thing to me as a caregiver is making sure my client is safe and happy. I spoke to my supervisor on many occasion about my concerns for client's well being and nothing was done. I asked my supervisor to reassign me to another client and I have not heard from her since then. In 2008 A family hired
