As a child I had a great relationship with my grandfather and he taught me the basics on being a nursing assistant. When he passed the feeling gave me the ambition to go out and help the less fortunate. I adore the fact that I get a chance to bond with the people that i care for. I am a people person and I love to be in the company of others. Obtaining my Nursing Assistant Certification was one of my greatest accomplishments. I am a 21 year old hard motivated worker that takes initiative and takes pride in handling my responsibilities.

I became a care giver in 2004. My first initial reaction to being in the health field was not my cup of tea. As the years went by I began to have a love and a need for helping people who were not in the capacity to help them selves. The part I like a about caregiving is when your patient can look at you after you're finished tying their shoes, or taking them to the bathroom because they can't go by themselves; and turns around and says "Thank you," or 'Your an angel". It makes you feel that your doing something meaningful in life. The personal achievement that I am proud of is finishing two years of prerequisites in college, and paying for it out of pocket. My name is Ruth Hackett, I am currently employed with Five Star Staffing Agency. I work at Sunharbor Manor in Roslyn Heights, I'm enrolled at NCC working towards getting my nursing degree, I have a passion working with the elderly in a professional, loving and caring manner.
