I am currently in school to become a Registered Nurse (RN). I am in the process of transferring schools but will start back around May. I have spent the past 13 years caring for the elderly. It is certainly a career path I am proud of. I truly love to make people happy and comfortable during this period of their lives. I have learned to continuously to educate myself about the various diseases affecting the elderly in my care. I consistently strive to and do achieve the highest standard of comfort and professional service wherever I have worked. My career goal is to take care of the elderly to the best of my ability. I always treat them in a way that they deserve to be treated during this period of their lives, which is full of transition and new hardships. I like to work in an intellectually challenging environment, where I can put my many skills to good use. I believe it’s important to learn about the people’s past and understand their stories, what their lives were like; in order to truly be able to properly care for them. Caring for the elderly is not only about caring for the body, it is also especially important to take care of the mind.

Started working as an Administrative assistant for an RN that had a private case fro an elderly woman with Alzheimer's. I assisted my supervisor with managing the caregivers, interviews, and many jobs related to desk work, My supervisor provided monthly teaching sessions to keep up to date with end-of-life care. Including, How to operate an Oxygen concentrator tank, CPR, medication as well as how to take Dr.Orders over the phone. As time went on the lady became weaker and needed more assistance. She had a terminal illness and preferred to stay at home. Instead of continuing the administrative job my supervisor preferred that I assisted as a caregiver. Unfortunately she passed away in September, 2015. Knowing that she received the best care that she wanted and deserved, made this a life learning experience that I will always cherish.
