I worked as a Private Duty Nurse to an 82 yr. old who is suffering from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma or cancer of the lymph nodes. During the course of the patient’s chemo therapy session, I made sure she is in a comfortable position. Post chemo therapy session, I made certain that patient’s oral post chemo medications are taken. I do bedside care Observe proper handwashing procedure before and after handling the patient. Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment so as to prevent cross contamination. At home, my responsibilities include assisting in patient’s activities of daily living Administering medications (Oral only) Make sure patient is getting the proper nutrition through a well balanced and nutrient-rich diet. Uses therapeutic communication Instructs patient to do reverse isolation to prevent from acquiring infection or disease Assisting patient to and from the hospital during follow-up check ups and consultations. Instructs and educates other members of the family so as to be able to gain knowledge about the patient’s condition as well as to be able to render continuous quality patient care.
