About Amy

I have provided care to my mother who has mobility issues and slight dementia. I provided nutritional guidance, social counseling (when the dementia takes away normal social filters), engaged her in activities, insured her safely utilizing a walker and wheel chair as needed by circumstance, etc. I also worked as a job coach in a high school setting where I was out on the job site with special needs students to provide instruction on how to do job tasks, understand social requirements, provide for their safety and well being, etc. As far as being a Caregiver, I enjoy the interaction and being able to help others. I also enjoy the enrichment this provides in terms of being able to hear stories of their youth and being able to see life through a different perspective. It taught me to be more appreciative and"not sweat the small stuff". As a job coach, I was able to handle difficult students in public without a scene. I was also able to insure the students did not do anything that might endanger them while at the same time having a good time doing work. I also learned to break down what might be a simple task into steps. I was born in Ohio but moved to New Jersey after college where I married and raised three children. I was a stay at home mom and returned to work at the school where I was a job coach and then in the three year old room at the high school. I moved to Florida last August. I was responsible for the safety, security and development of the three year old students all day on Monday while the High School Teacher instructed the high school students, after school and days where the students are not in the class room. I prepared lessons for the students, conducted circle time, play time, centers, library time and special day events. I was responsible for the actions of the aide and high school student helpers.

Responsible for task analysis – must break down the task into a format that the student will be able to understand and accomplish. Insure that all safety considerations are met. Insure the student will be able to work more independently. Insure student is following the standards of the facility (i.e. health codes). Help the students learn the specific requirements of the job, learn work-related activities and requirements such as time and attendance rules; and learn appropriate work-related (including social) behaviors when dealing with supervisors and co-workers.

This is accomplished by the utilization of various search engines and the Google Reader to identify sources of comments concerning the clients. Data is located, analyzed, collected, rated and inputted to provide real time feedback and monthly reports for the clients. A spreadsheet is prepared for each client to illustrate each site checked and where comments were found and analyzed for relevancy. A weekly tracking spreadsheet report is submitted identifying the number of relevant comments posted to the client’s account.
