What makes me a great caregiver is that I have compassion, I have fellow feeling for people, and if I am helping a child, I think it is my child, I imagine people as sisters, brothers, parents, grandparents, and that makes me feel, and identify how important they are, and how I would feel about someone else looking after my loved one, and how they would want me to interact. It really makes you know empathy. Nobody wants sympathy, but we need empathy. I like to interact when clients need and want interaction, but I also want to respect space, boundaries, and privacy. I do not want to hover. I have a lot of experience in many aspects of caregiving. I can cook well, clean, be a companion, share experiences, I can, and actually love yardwork, I have experience with mild to profound disabilities, dementia, alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis (paralysis) stroke victims, occupational therapy techniques, have used a gait belt, lift, and wheelchair assistance, toileting, female catheter care, bed bound patients, toileting, incontinence, bathing, showering, bed bathing, chores, nutrition, game playing. I could not put my experience in the work section because it kept deleting everytime I got to the second source, so I put most on the first one. I have been caregiving since 1996.

Collect DNA for determining parentage, and connection of mother to child, child to father. I work as a contractor for Franklin County, and for the county Child Support Enforcement Agency. I have extensive experience in caregiving and working with various age groups. I have worked in a developmental center in Springfield, Ohio taking care of the needs of 6 wheelchair bound special needs clients who were mostly teenagers. I worked a few years helping a brother and sister, both in their 90's with cooking, cleaning, and companionship. I also worked for a church friend looking after her mother who had dementia, and trying to help her cognitively by playing games, and cards, and talking, keeping her company. I also worked with another private caregiving position, taking care of an 81 year old woman who was inflicted with Multiple Sclerosis, and paralyzed from the neck down. I was companion, and friend to every client I ever helped out. The lady with MS was particularly challenging in that she was 6'3 and in very delicate condition, yet extremely interested in interacting and living life. Very interesting and present, and concerned with keeping her mind active., and alert. I also had the privilege of aiding two men, 18, and 26 years old who were mentally, and physically challenged, take a stab at living independently of an institution, and group home.

Am a very happy person, so I always make sure my clients are happy. I joke around with them, and do funny dance. It's my way of showing them love and care, No matter how their situation is. I became a caregiver to make a difference in people's life. My achievements was working with a lady who fell into depression following the death of her only remaining son, who had some type of rare cancer, but didn't think he was going to die,while she was also in the hospital recovering from hip replacement.I walked into her and her grandchildren's life Three weeks after the son's death. I was assigned to work with her to recuperate from her surgery, but I ended up being like a therapist to the family. And thanks be to God, her depression, was very well controlled with medication, and We became very good friends. So to me I think, that's was my greatest achievement And am always grateful and proud of that .

Hi! I've been an RN for 26 yrs. I LOVE caring for others and all that comes with being a nurse. I'm not necessarily looking for high-tech, intensive nursing right now. I'm more interested in getting out of the house to be of use to someone who needs some assistance at home or out in the community. Our 3 sons are grown and out on their own now.
