Hi there! My name is Malissa and I absolutely love being a nurse! I enjoy making my patients lives a little easier by providing the best care they deserve. I have been on the receiving end of healthcare during times when the care wasn't so great and I will never forget how that made me feel. I vowed to myself that I would never be responsible for causing that hopeless feeling in others. My patients are individuals, with individual needs. Too often providers get wrapped up in the day to day schedule and forget that what is routine to us is not routine to the patient. Seeing my patients smile during their weakest moments (literally) lets me know I am doing my job well. Patients and family members need to know they are being heard and they have a right to express their opinion regarding care being provided to them and their loved ones. Compassion, empathy, listening skills merged together with physical clinical skills makes for an excellent patient experience and that is my passion.

I started off with the company in 2012 as an orthopedic medical assistant. My duties consisted of assisting patients during office visits by obtaining vital signs, removing sutures/staples and needed. Performing dressing changes. Applying splints/casts. Completing electronic medical history. Triaging patient phone calls. Processing medication refills. Scheduling appointments. After completing nursing school, I took on a new roll within this company in March of 2019 as an RN on an orthopedic medsurg floor. Here my responsibilities consist of patient assessments and evaluation, medication administration, patient education, task delegation and electronic record documentation.

Behavior health nurse. I work with kiddos who are having a mental health crisis. We evaluate and assess our patients. Then we make a plan of care specific to their needs which involves a team of health care professionals ranging from mental health technicians and RN's as well as licensed social workers and physicians. Our goal is to successfully return them to their communities or treat them in-house until they are able.
