About Shaniquah

I received my CNA certificate from the Kankakee Area Career Center and I've worked as a CNA since 17. I loved my first CNA job. I loved each of the residents I took care of like they were my own grandparents. That sort of thing happens you become a part of each others routines and lives. When I began working for a hospice part of my job was to provide care in homes.I was happy knowing patients were comfortable being in their own home. It's rewarding to know that someone trusts you enough to allow you to take care of them and their home. I'm proud of getting my job at hospice. I was 18 years old when I started there and it was one of the best and hardest positions I've held in my life. It's a wonder I have tears left.I will forever be grateful for the experiences and lessons I gained as part of that team. I'm in the process of completing an associates degree and then off to pursue a bachelors in cultural anthropology.Odd right? I'm still considering nursing, it'd be exciting to become a traveling, in-home CNA or nurse and write about it. My mother is from the United States Virgin Islands and often speaks in old adages.I was never taught to "respect my elders because they're my elders." I was taught to respect and love my elders and always remember that in this life you are once a man and twice a child. Because of my mothers words, my heart and smile are as warm as my heart is gentle.
