My primary concern as a caregiver is to make sure that my client is able to function at the best of their ability and to make sure that they are having the highest quality of life that they are able to have. I am not only there for my client but I am also there for the family (such as: to let them go grocery shopping, are just to be another set of ears at doctor appointments or for the family. After a few days with the client and the family I begin to consider them family. I have a great amount of nurturing and empathy, some say I care to much but I give 150% to my clients and families. I enjoy order and dispensing medication, relating to my clients, enjoy the pass and working on family history. I have no parents or grandparents so my clients kind of fill these roles. I have been a first responder, EMT, CPR Instructor, nurse's aide, and medication aide. My personal achievement that I am most proud of is having a D.N.S. that I work with for a long time trust me to teach new nurse's the medication routine and to be a charge nurse. As a personal care giver the highest praise I can be given is for my client to tell me I must be an angel and that they love me.

I am passionate about caring for people so they can stay in their own homes as long as possible. It means a lot to them and their families to keep things as routine and familiar, change is very hard and stressful. I was once a care giver for two ladies. They were keeping their husbands at home and doing all personal cares for them and trying to keep up the household as well. Both had alzheimer's. I went to their homes as needed, once or twice a week so they could get out and do fun things. I always reminded them how important it was to take good care of them selves as well. It was so rewarding to have them appreciate and trust me to care for their loved one, to allow them a well earned break. I also cared for an elderly lady in her home for over two years, she and her husband both had Alzheimers and each had their own personal assistant/caregiver. It was my pleasure to be a part of her life!
