Hello I am Alicia- I have done private home care for approx. 10+ years. I find it very rewarding to give the care I wish to receive for myself or family members if/when I may need help doing everyday tasks. I raised 4 children & now have beautiful grandbabies to enjoy & visit them as often as I'm able to. For the past year & a half I've lived with my dad caring for him and his COPD- on November 21, 2022 he lost the fight against his disease. I've been a caregiver for 8 years. I specialize with individuals with intellectual disabilities as well as physical disabilities. I am a host home provider who provides care for individuals in my home. I tend to work with clients who have a higher needs both medically and behaviorally. I treat my clients as part of my family and love to have fun with them in the community. I first became a caregiver as when I was a little girl, my dad ran a very big charity in texas called The Big Texas Toy Run where we would collect toys for children with intellectual disabilities who's family's were showing times of hardship. We then donated proceeds to various organizations. I volunteered there from age 4 - 18 years old.

The expectations and standards I set for myself are: 1) Dignity and respect 2) When I walk into someone's home, I'm walking into their world. I dont expect them to walk into mine. Its about them and their needs. 3) Everyone is an individual. Same diagnosis does not mean the same kind of care. My care is based on the individual and their wants and needs. 4) Patience and being a great listener. How else will I know what is needed and wanted. I have provided care for many people.
