I've been an active caregiver for the past 15 years or so, both as a live-in and live-out caregiver. Most of my working experience comes from outside of the US. I started working as a caregiver because needed a job and earn money(do not let yourself fooled by anyone that says otherwise ) and as a single mom of three you can guess that i had no choice in choosing what i considered at that time that i would like. During the years i earned so much more than money. I started out with a job and ended up with having more and more family members as each and one of the patients that i assisted become in some way my mother/father, my daughter/son and a challenge to build up my empathic skills . Ended up understanding that caregiving is not a JOB although it's paid. You treat not just people but a very fragile class of people. They definitely need our assistance in daily chores but that is not enough , they need somebody that does not define them only trough their disability. Caregiving it's not just about taking care of a body it is a 360 degree assistance which consider the person in a holistic way (body, mind and spirit) As a caregiver i might fail in some chores(nobody is perfect) but one thing that i am proud of is that as much as i could i tried to bring joy. Hard but necessary was when I had to assist patients in an point where life comes to an end. In some cases I sing their favourite song, hold a hand, give a caress to the person in need and explain to family members that it is perfectly normal to be scared or to suffer and to assure them that they are not alone.

Skills & Certifications: Neurological Disorders, Post Surgery Recovery, Registered Nurse (RN), Hospice Care, Depression, Blood Disorders, Hearing Disorders, Skin Disorders, Vision and Eye Disorders, Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Respiratory Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Orthopedic Care, Parkinson's Disease, Palliative Care, Home Health Care, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Cardiovascular Disorders, Diabetes, Dementia, Arthritis, Cancer Recovery, Alzheimer's Disease

Watching my father survive pancreatic cancer for 18 years, I decided I'd rather be with people than sit behind a desk in an office. I enjoy listening to client's life stories and making their current situation more comfortable. My current client calls me Dimples since I smile so often. We engage in stimulating intellectual and physical activities according to her ability. For the past four years I have helped enable her to stay home rather than moving to a facility. I am a Stamford native, studied at Colgate University and love the Japanese culture, needlepoint and singing.

I began my career as a caregiver in 2003 when my mother was suffering from ovarian cancer. Members of the family and I took care of her until she passed. I was working overnights and taking the CNA course at Candlewood Valley in New Milford, CT during the day. I enjoy helping people, it is very rewarding. I am very sympathetic, compassionate, and patient. I am a married 59 year old, dependable, reliable, trustworthy, and in excellent health. I can cook, clean, shop; I do this in my own home. Most of my career has been in a Skilled Nursing environment, however I have Home Health Care experience as well. A Home position is really what I want to do. I can obtain personal and professional references if needed. Cell# 203-417-0069.

Since I was young I always loved taking care of others. I became a caregiver simply because I love to care for people. I especially love the elderly. Being a caregiver makes me feel good about myself, and just knowing I can help someone who needs it makes me proud. I like to make people feel accepted and cared for. A personal achievement I am proud of myself for accomplishing would be going to school to become a Certified Medical Assistant, and dedicating my time to my grandmother the last three months of her life. My passion is the elderly because I feel like I can learn and grow so much from their knowledge and experiences. I am very honest, caring, loving, and trustworthy.
