I am very attentive to the details and needs of the family and patient. I am careful with following instructions. I am a very loving, caring person and I get attached to my patients easily as if they are family. I feel care giving/nursing is God's work. Also, I believe in caring for people, giving them their dignity in their last years of their lives, and I am fulfilling a divine purpose in life for me. I enjoy most the companionship, keeping the patient's dignity and cleanliness, and giving them comfort, care and a feeling that they are not alone. Being there for them. I cared for a dying woman and we had the worst snow storm in Lancaster County. She passed away that night and the undertaker was called. We had to even shovel the snow to open up the driveway. I helped the family do that. This was beyond the call of duty, but I felt that I could do anything to help them out. I worked outside of the required time and the agency gave me a letter of recognition for going above and beyond the call of duty. I also cared for a family, a husband and wife team, for eleven years until they went to a nursing home. Their children were doctors and nurses. They really appreciated everything that I did for their parents.

Skills & Certifications: ALS, Alzheimer's Disease, Arthritis, Blood Disorders, Cancer Recovery, Cardiovascular Disorders, COPD, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Hearing Disorders, Home Health Care, Hospice Care, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurological Disorders, Orthopedic Care, Parkinson's Disease, Post Surgery Recovery, Renal and Urological Disorders, Palliative Care, Respiratory Disorders, Skin Disorders, Stroke, Vision and Eye Disorders

Decided to begin pursuing elderly in-home caregiving after a family friend suffered from 2 strokes at the age of 90. The family was unable to financially afford the transition to a senior living community and being that I train my clients in the evening, I had time available during my day and told the family I would help. After a year and a half spent caring for this woman, having her pass and having my own grandmother whom I was very close to pass right around the same time, I felt that it was something I wished to continue doing. I especially enjoy the intimate connection one makes with someone during the caretaking process. While they were trusting me to help them during their most vulnerable moments, they don't realize that they are in turn teaching me just as much. I had no idea that this type of work would elicit such a unique reward for myself, and also provide such a visible release of stress and burden off of those families which I choose to help.

Skills & Certifications: Vision and Eye Disorders, Stroke, Post Surgery Recovery, Orthopedic Care, Neurological Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Home Health Care, Depression, Dementia, Cancer Recovery
