Hello my name is Kendra Johnson I have been a Certified Nursing Assistance for 16 years I have worked in different settings nursing home,hospice care, hospital, home care in more. I have a passion at what I do I love it .

I was too young to remember the story but my aunt says when I was 4 years old, that I comforted and reassured her when she was crying over a breakup with her boyfriend. I believe this was the beginning of my journey to care for others. I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

Caring for others has been a lifelong passion of mine! I'm happiest when helping others, so I find this field of work very rewarding in many ways. I grew up watching my mother learn and be a great nurse so she is definitely my inspiration. What I enjoy most is definitely just making a difference, being able to be there and insert patience and understanding in a situation of discomfort. Many don't understand how hard it can be to accept help when you have always helped others yourself, that's the role of a caregiver.

I am a very caring person, great attitude, very organized. I was my son's caregiver for 11 years until his passing last year.

I enjoy assisting in making a client feel comfortable, happy and well-taken care of during a difficult time. I have 17 years of experience in dementia, senior care and individuals with challenges. I have managed homes for clients and set-up the daily logs and routines to help the transition work better. I knowledge is caring for family members with a wide range difficulties. I'm willing to help medication management, meal prep, light house keeping and bathing. I will offer companionship and try to find other interest to help fulfill their day. I will do all this keeping in mind their independence and dignity.

I began my journey into the Caregiver when my grandmother got sick and I knew it was my calling. I really enjoy being there for others always. I am very patient and very concerned in the happiness and comfortableness of my clients. I follow instructions well and I do like to do a daily journal of my clients day so the family knows all that has happened throughout my day with their loved one.
