I was too young to remember the story but my aunt says when I was 4 years old, that I comforted and reassured her when she was crying over a breakup with her boyfriend. I believe this was the beginning of my journey to care for others. I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I have 20 plus years in the medical field primarily in patient care and really have enjoyed helping and working in my community . I strive to provide the best care possible for my clients and treat everyone with dignity and respect. This is my work but also my passion.

I began my journey into the Caregiver when my grandmother got sick and I knew it was my calling. I really enjoy being there for others always. I am very patient and very concerned in the happiness and comfortableness of my clients. I follow instructions well and I do like to do a daily journal of my clients day so the family knows all that has happened throughout my day with their loved one.

Helping someone come out of her second stroke she's 92 and I am still caring for her. I started off working with children ages 3-17 with autistic disorders, substance, mental and physical abuse ( Youth counselor). I then branched off into working with elderly adults. Hello my name is Pam and I have been a caregiver for 13 years I also am licensed in the state of Virginia. I have been doing Home health and Hospice care for 8. I went in to caregiving after I had worked for the federal service for 28 years. I always knew my calling was to be in this field but I became a mother young and then a single mother and did not go to school until my children were much older. I love being a caregiver to the elderly because I know that they receive the best care and respect and their dignity is kept until my services are no longer needed. It is such a joy to me to see the elderly that I take care of smile everyday and laugh and enjoy life. I am very passionate about the work that I do. I believe that each care plan should be individualized; and each person's needs should be evaluated and assessed on a regular basis.
