First off, I would like to say that I very much have a heart for the elderly. I love engaging with them in conversation, and find myself drawn to caring for them. I sense that they quickly feel comfortable with me. Generally speaking, I am a very patient and compassionate person who can sense what is going on in the heart of another. I have been a care provider for over 20 years. I started in this feild taking care of my Quadriplegic brother , 25 years ago. I have my HCA and worked in behavioral health with many diverse client's needs. I am a people person and work hard at all i do. I have and am on call for Eastern Wa/DSHS. For personal care providers. I love being a care giver because you can become someone's best friend and help them live life like they are still young and spry! It's such a satisfying feeling leaving work every day knowing that I made life easier for someone and more comfortable. I strive to make their needs happen to the best of my ability. And I treat them the way I would want myself or anyone in my family to be treated, because they are your family and they mean the world to you. They deserve companionship and to be loved just like everyone else. The thing I enjoy most about a being a caregiver is that I make a new friend and get to make every day for them easy and can hopefully help them improve! I became a caregiver because I love helping others. My favorite part about being a caregiver is giving the elders someone to talk to. I once had a widower who was an elder neighbor which I visited frequently. I would help her with her yard work, grocery shopping, play games, and one time she was doing yard work when she tripped over her hoe and broke her nose and the antibiotic they gave her made her drowsy so she was afraid to sleep at her house by herself so I spent the night.
