* Completed hours needed for in Hospital training toward degree *Licensed American Heart Association Healthcare Provider * * I began this career, little did I know at the time, with my dear grandmother and her friends. I continued later in helping my elderly friends husband with complications from a hip replacement surgery. My elderly friend was disabled from a stroke that effected her entire left side. I cared for both during a time their own family was unavailable & friends were disappearing as more help was obviously needed. I assisted both to safely get from one room to the next & helped bring to do ctor appts., cancer treatments & shopping.. I helped prepare, cook & clean up meals. When Hospice was needed for one I took instructions on the right care for pain management for a cancer patient. I log all info surrounding clients. I basically do for them what needed to be done around house that they no longer were able to do. I involve them in all activities surrounding chores as much as possible. I ask for their own opinion on what meals they wish to have that day. I allow my clients freedom of choice while they endure their own inner struggle of not being able to do what they once used to do. I respect the elderly & their transitions. I encourage excersize & eating right. But when you need your chocolate & coffee I understand. ... more

Private Personal In Home Healthcare Worker

Home Instead Senior Care

Mar 2013 - Dec 2016

Absolutely everything needed from doctors orders of exercise sitting or standing with walker, cook, clean and mentally stimulate my clients to keep them actively living best they can. I am knowledgeable with Cancer, dementia, brain tumors, Lymphoma and Alzheimer's care. Ive worked alongside of MDs, PHD's, RNs & PT's carry out their jobs the remaining of the week they are not there as doctor has ordered daily. I've remained consisten t in exercise care plans when spouse insisted we stick to the exercises of physical therapy when they stopped coming out. Experienced with nebulizers, oxygen tanks and fall risks clients. Capable of safely helping disabled up from bed, chairs, wheelchairs, into vehicle & reposition safely & softly. My last client on Hospice called for a lot more hands on care with wrapping & bandaging of legs due to kidney failure. What treatments Hospice started I continued the other 6 days a week Hospice doesn't come out. Eventhough instructions were left for my clients family, family asked me to do all the bandaging.I had another career of 30yrs in horse industry of wrapping million dollar horses legs. Who knew it would come in handy. Apparently, depending what type of school you recieve training for Nursing, they dont teach all of them How to do wraps when you can not use compression stockings any longer due to skin condition from kidneys. Extensive physical demands I met with a smile. *References Upon Request ... more

Private In Home Healthcare Worker

Independant Contractor

Jan 2004 - Jan 2012

I helped my friends husband before and after surgery. When his cancer progressed I worked alongside Hospice with RNs and definitely received a crash course in nursing. When he passed I stayed with my friend whom was disabled and eventually she had Hospice a year later. This home is why I stayed in this profession. I administered all prescribed meds, patches dated, nebulizers, oxygen machines around the clock. Documentation & recor ds were requested by RN's, so I started activity logs for all meals, meds, exercise, outdoor ventures, and sleeping patterns was available at all times. *References upon request ... more
