I got started in healthcare at 15 years old. I started by taking care of my mom, as she had mini strokes & had to go to therapy. I would go to therapy with my mom & then help her with therapy at home, then I helped my dad get his stuff ready to go to work every morning. After my daddy left for work I'd take a nap just before going to school. I enjoy being around elderly people, having conversations, helping them with daily tasks & being a companion to them. I've been to school to be a CNA, a Certified Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Emergency Medical Technician & hopefuly one day finish achieving my RN degree. I'm also a mom of four grown children & I have nine grandbabies. I enjoy taking care of people of all ages. I specialize in caring for people with disabilities & Alzheimers/Dementia disease. Hmm...about me? When I took the class to become certified, I had no idea the impact it would have on my life, much less, how it would impact the person I am today. I think being personable and empathetic are important qualities that have been enhanced throughout the last nine years. I never put much though into becoming a caregiver, it just kind of came about, but now I feel like its a way for me to step away from "self." Whatever may be going on in life gets left at the door or at the time clock, then I step into another "self." Its hard to describe the way this type of work makes me feel which, in turn, has a positive affect on my job performance and I like to think people can see this shine through in my personality. I can honestly say that I'm happy to have gained the friendships, knowledge and experience I wouldn't have otherwise had a chance to gain. My most recent personal achievement is being enrolled to start on online classes to take the next step in the healthcare feild.

I became a caregiver in 2017. A gentleman was given my name by a mutual friend. He was told I was compassionate, honest and would be perfect to fill the position he needed for taking care of his wife. I went to meet her, and fell in love with caring for her. She was blind, bedbound and suffered the end stages of dementia. She was non-verbal, and had not communicated in several years. It didn't take long, but she began talking to me! I quickly learned to use a hoyer, and to do daily range of motion exercises, along with physical therapy. After my first job, I was determined to help more people. I had gotten so much out of the progress I seen my patients were making. I have so much patence, and love to help others as if they were my own family. Since I started I've had the opportunity to use a ceiling hoyer, care for a Foley catheter. As well.as using other catheters including condom catheters.

I've been doing caregiving an working in nursing homes since 2010. I've worked for CareLink, Home instead, an two different Nursing homes. I'm Moving to Nevada in April and hoping I can find a lovely person to care for. I became a caregiver at a really young age due to a ill mother and a very ill uncle who is no longer with us, may he Rest In Peace. I took care of him for 13 year an lost him in 2014 to kidney failure. I promised him an my mom who I still take care of that I will take care of as much people I can to make life easier for them because I know how hard it is on them to know one day they use to could do for themselves and now they can't. I love my career and have done so for Nine years an on day I hope to be able to make your family happy and have a peace of mind knowing that their love ones are being cared for by someone who loves them as much as you.
