I became a caregiver because I love the work with the elderly. I am outgoing and friendly, a great companion. I am proud that I take good care of the people I am with. I make sure they get good nutrition, don't fall, don't get bed sores; I always do my best to give the best care possible. I feel like caregiving was something I was born to do. I enjoy getting to know new people and help them with the tasks they need help with. I find satisfaction in caregiving because it feels great knowing I'm helping someone take care of there loved one. I was raised by a family member that was a CNA and she taught me to be loving and caring to others. I have worked with Individuals that display outburst behavior. Hello Everyone. My name is Christina Walker. I am 26 years old, a mother of two handsome boys, and have been a CNA for three years. Before becoming a CNA I was a caregiver for 5 years. I have always wanted to become a nurse because I generally love to help people! My mother got very sick with Cancer my senior year of high school. I dropped out for a few months to help take care of her and my younger siblings. My mother passed away a day before my 18th birthday. Leaving behind 4 children under the age of 18. I then begin helping my step father take care of them while going back to school and receiving my diploma. Once I graduated high school my step father became ill as well. I then begin taking care of him and having employment through In Home Supportive Services. I had a few long term clients including my step father. My step father died a few years later of a rare blood disease leaving 3 children under 18. I then became guardianship of my siblings. I enrolled in my local adult school CNA class. I graduated at the top of my class receiving a GPA average of 3.82. I received two certificates for Being able to tell the signs of a stroke, as well as Perfect attendance. I love being a CNA and really enjoy working with all types of people. My biggest highlight of being a CNA is knowing that I am helping someone in need from as small as helping them with ADL's or with anything they made need. I became a caregiver because my favorite aunt's death traumatized me when I was younger and I felt it was only right to do something bigger about it. With the additional influence of other aunts having careers in the medical field, I decided to strive in the medical field myself and contribute to the better physical, mental, and emotional health of those in need. I am very compassionate, diligent, and fun. Spending quality time with clients on a daily basis and getting to know them really makes me happy because a relationship is developed that most clients don't have to begin with. I just want to make them improve, be happy and healthy.

I have been a caregiver for about 6-7 years and a CNA for about 2. A good friend of mine needed help with a lady who had Alzheimer and I had no experience at all. They say the best way to learn is through doing, and I couldn't agree more. I learned many great traits along my journey as a caregiver. I am a very patient, calm, and giving person. I enjoy helping my patients with activities of daily living and assisting them with any needs they may have like toileting, transportation, medication reminders, etc. Being a caregiver is a very rewarding job. To be able to help someone makes you feel good about yourself, and the relationships you build along the way make it all worth it in the end . I stared as a caregiver, not knowing anything, to now being a Certified Nursing Assistant, to now working on my nursing degree. I love what I do and take it very seriously. I am an honest, hard working, caring and trustworthy.
