I've always gone above and beyond for anyone I've worked for and had a resident who was very hard to please go out of her way to write a note and post on the bulletin for all to see thanking me. For staying after my shift to put her to bed bc no one else would do it and I stayed an extra hr and half to do it and didn't complain in fact I kept asking if she was comfortable or needed. Anything else and she couldn't believe how sweet I was and even requested that if I was on shift I'd be her care giver.

Hi there, my name is Shawn I am a 38 year old divorced mother of two. I have a passion for helping others and enjoy spending quality time with the elderly. I moved to Florida roughly 6 years ago and was given an opportunity to visit a local nursing home during my visit I was rather shocked to say the least. I understand the employees don't always allow for much one on one time but the amount of elderly I frequently witnessed not receiving any companionship broke my heart. I made it a commitment to spend 2 hours 3 days a week at this facility to interact with anyone that wanted the interaction. We would play games, cut coupons to help keep their hands moving, go for small group walks in the fenced area and have actual conversations. I am looking to build an actual friendship with each client if they want to go to a nice lunch I am willing to take them, a walk in the park, to the mall , just out for a drive I am willing to do it just to know they are enjoying their day means I have done good for someone outside of my home.

Im new to Florida I moved here in the end of July 2014 I believe in taking care of those who cannot do so themselves. I have achieved alot in my years from hospice care to critical care .Im a 57 year old male who did hospices from 1985 thru 2020. I obtained my lna license in NH in 2007 and received my license here in Aug 2014 I love what I do and believe home is MUCH better then a rehab or nursing facility its one on one rather then sharing with 15 others. I have received several awards for doing my job as well as i have many references that are available upon request. My last clients were24/7 both husband and wife he passed Jan 2017 and she passed oct 2019 just shy of 90 years old.I did not work in 2020 but resumed with a client in 2021 with end stage Alzheimer's which he just passed feb 8,2022. I became a Caregiver because I love caring for everyone, young and old. I have been doing that for 30 years plus. I have been some sort of a caregiver since I was a teenager. As a teenager I was the most sought after babysitter in my neighborhood. While I was a Sophomore in High school I took a health occupation class that was a 2 year long program taken at the local hospital. When I graduated I was a CNA and took a job at the Nursing home where I worked for a couple of years. I left due to starting my own family and becoming a stay at home mother. I am most proud of my 3 kids, 2 grandkids and my wonderful husband of 37 years.
