I have 20 years of experience in the medical/nursing field. I've worked in nursing homes, hospitals, and agencies and have found that in home care is the field best suited for me. I tend to be drawn toward Alzheimer/dementia patients as I'm learning my approach in care, they tend to respond to me best. I have worked with several families and helped to restore certain independence to patients with walking, dressing, feeding themselves. I ran a restorative therapy program for over two years in a nursing facility before deciding to take a home care position with an agency.

All three were in need of a kidney and were in one stage of dialysis or in the hospital recovering. All have recovered and are doing well. My last son received his a year and a half ago. Hello my name is Michelle Dayton. I have worked in home healthcare for close to 25 years. I have been State certified as a CNA in both Michigan and Indiana. I am not currently certified but I am a registered HHA. I get tremendous enjoyment of taking care of others. My healthcare career started as a volunteer for hospice after I lost my grandparents. I've seen what amazing work they did and how at peace my grandparents were when they passed and I chose to pay it forward. I am a little more picky on the people I take care of then other Aides for two reasons: 1. If the client and I seem to clash it's no good for anyone. So I will not waste your time or my own. I will just respectfully decline the offer. 2. The clients I take on will not be just a clients. I love my people like they're my own family and I will do my absolute best to meet every need they have. If I cannot accomplish that I will find someone who can and put you in touch with them, because there's no sense in your family members being unhappy and uncomfortable in their own home. I feel that I am very caring and compassionate with each and every client that I've had. I believe everyone deserves respect, kindness and a voice( your opinion matters to me!) I will never force your family members to do something they don't want to do. I feel they have live through several wars, a great depression and a whole lot of hardship in the past and now is their time to be pampered. I would first like to explain that I have been a professional registered nurse since 1988. I have been retired for the last 5 years and have been at home. I am a very good and enthusiastic caregiver. I am smart, nurturing and fun to be around. I have always worked in high risk environments from trauma/ emergency departments to intensive care units and medical step-down units. My hourly rate is negotiable depending on the distance I must travel to get to my job. My greatest personal achievements would have to be raising my two adult daughters.
