I have 18 years of caregiver experience. I have a CNA for about 15 years. I started caring for folks because back in Africa, we care for our family members so it has been something in my nature to care for people. When I care for elderly folks, I treat them as if they were my family members. I've worked with all types of senior patients. Most patients have conditions of stroke, dementia, mentally challenged patients, cancer patient, hospice etc.

I have worked in the human service field since I was 18. I've always been the care taker for all. I've been in management for over 12 years, hiring staff to provide exceptional care to adults with disabilities. One things I have always said is that I can teach anyone anything but I cannot each them compassion. Staff that I've hired to care for our individuals most definitely have to be compassionate. I am a mother of 3 girls. I'm committed to ensuring that whoever needs care lives their life to their fullest potiential. I have an elderly ill father who I take care of who is my world. The care I would provide would be the care I would expect for him. I have a great sense of humor, dignity is important so I'm prideful in making sure my individuals live with dignity and pride. I myself am very prideful and always strive to do a great job. I get fulfillment out of making a difference in someone's life. I am responsible and reliable. What makes me a good care giver is that again I would make to give anyone the care that I would want for my own loved one. Personal achievements; giving the 6 women I've cared for a great life dispite their disabilities and making such a difference that it was recognized by many.

I am a very compassionate person I love to help others take care of themselves when needed. I came from a very united family, we've learned to care for one another. I love what I do, I love being in the medical field being able to learn something new everyday, is growth!

Hi, I'm LaShawnda! In 2014 I lost my father to Cancer. Prior to his death he was battling cancer. Like many people my father was not comfortable with staying at the hospital or a nursing home. He wanted to be at home. Unfortunately at that time I didn't know he need round the clock care, he needed to eat, he needed to be turned and repositioned, he needed help with all his personal care. With tears in my eyes I tried to do all I could. I became very interested and I was ready and willing to learn how to help people who cannot help themselves. Since my Dad's death I have became a Certified Nurse Assistant and I'm loving it!
