I have always been more mature for my age. I grew up as an only child, only hanging around adults. I have always had a caring personality and when I was 18 after I graduated high school I started working as a CNA at an adult day care, caring for geriatrics with dementia. I fell in love with them. They may not be able to remember your name or their own name but they can tell you stories about their childhood that bring warmth to your heart. I am very good at caring for geriatrics, making them feel comfortable in embarrassing situations for them (bathing, changing soiled linen) because they still deserve dignity and respect which I make sure they know they have the upmost respect. Some geriatric patients have a hard time with caregiving because they have literally give up every ounce of independence they used to have which is hard to cope with. My personality is very smiley and happy around geriatrics which makes them feel better. I also have a very loud voice which is an advantage with geriatrics since most are hard of hearing, they can hear me because I tend to speak loudly. I am an RN however I love being a caregiver too. I am very good at caring for people, making them feel comfortable, I am very easy to talk to and educating on medical information also.

Growing up, every great grandparent, and grandparent on both sides of my family, suffered from the Alzheimer's gene. I watched and assisted with their care and witnessed their deterioration my entire childhood and adult life. Naturally, I sought genetic testing and learned I am a carrier of the gene. I am pursuing a career in medicine with a double major in Biology (for Pre-Med) and Neurosciences (studying regressive neurological diseases and mental disorders). I am also a mom of 2. I enjoy providing companionship care and have extensive experience (both personal and professional) and knowledge of senior care and dementia/Alzheimer's. I provide the same care to families that I would give to my own. I'm a driven, passionate person who enjoys reading, outdoor activities of any kind, and am an avid believer that anything is possible if we set out to achieve it. I have a passion for helping others. I am compassionate and have empathy for people. I enjoy taking care of my grandparents and family members and would like to help others in this way. During the intern portion of CNA training the people were the most important part of my day. I enjoyed doing what I could to make them comfortable and assuring that they were safe. I like making someone smile and doing little things to make the persons day better. Helping with the little things, like finding creamer for their coffee (as long as it was on their dietician list) was important as well. I like doing work that has a potential to make a difference in someone's life. When I am older, I want someone like myself there to help me when I need help.

I became a caregiver 1979 I joined the army as medical assistance, since than I started working as a caregiver for hospice patient, I enjoy give my time and see how good they feel the joy they give me as the care giver, to know someone care for them. I enjoy helping others and if I can do something to help someone feel better or whatever it may be it makes me happy. I see over the years even the slightest attention and care can go such a long way. Seeing a smile and a thank you from a patient or family members is satisfying. I have had numerous personal one which I still wonder how I did it was graduate Nursing school with all the challenges thrown my way by my personal life with divorce, custody issues and doing all I can for my kids one which is disabled and the love of my life. I am currently studying for my Boards for RN license and currently working in a Pediatric ER and have for over a year now and love every day I am there. It is fast pace which I like. Have learned and seen many things, some sad and some rewarding. Before I took the Student Nurse / PCT position at the hospital I was working with the ARC of Anne Arundel County for the Adults as a CNA and Med Tech.
