I have been a private duty caregiver for 20+ years and can't think of anything I would rather do. I enjoy getting to know my patients and I find it very fulfilling to care for others that can no longer live alone. Over the years I have met some of the most wonderful people and their family's that entrust me with the care of their loved ones. We have established relationships that will last forever. I've worked side by side with hospice/Visiting Physicians in a home setting where my responsibilities include administering medications, PT/OT post surgeries, bathing, shopping and house keeping. I have always wanted to commit myself to doing something meaningful in my career and I felt that becoming a CNA wold provide that while I was in school for my bachelors and next for my masters in PA studies. To be spending my days helping sick people to feel well, to help educate people in how best to take care of themselves is something that has always spoken to me. Working as a CNA has been a great opportunity because it has confirmed in my mind what I had been anticipating, which is how much I look forward to working with patients. It has allowed me to be the positive presence that I want to be in people's lives. Leaving work every day knowing I made a difference not only in someone's life but in their well-being is the most rewarding thing that I have ever done. Not only do I enjoy it because of the positive impact it allows me to make in their daily lives but also because of the way they impact me. Caring for them forces me to figure out the best way to help people feel better. Sometimes that means really learning to understand the effects of behavioral or cognitive disorders, and sometimes that means helping people cope with the pain, fear and anxiety that medical challenges can bring. It is challenging but deeply meaningful to care for patients because I get to develop a deeper understanding of how to improve the quality of life to people who rely on me and look to me for relief. My greatest personality traits and expertise that has helped me become a great caregiver is my constant open mindedness to grow and learn to become the best version of myself. My ability to bring a positive warm energy to work has allowed me to create a comfortable and safe environment for my patients. My greatest personal achievement would be graduating with my bachelors in four years at the age of 22.

I have been a caregiver for a year in Kalamazoo, MI, and I am hoping to continue doing so as I venture out to Denver, CO. Hello! I've been a caregiver for 6 years at a retirement home working with disabled, Alzheimer's / Dementia, mentally challenged and hard of hearing patients. My duty's have been personal care such as grooming, bathing, dressing, feeding and toileting. I've seen it all and dealt with it all. I am CPR/First Aid certified through the American heart association and have experience with catheter care and colostomy bag care. I am very caring and love my work. My patients are quick to become part of my family and I give my very best to take good care of whatever their needs may be.

I wanted to become a caregiver because, I have a passion for helping people. I like being acare giver because it gives me an oopportunity to care for some people who are in needs of help, like cleaning or even a good bath and meal ,to make them feel good. I truly enjoy being a caregiver because it allows me to give a part of myself to someone and hopefully brighten their day, even something as simple as a smile. I treasure each client I've been able to work with as I have learned so much from their experiences. My most memorable client and I were able to bond when he discovered that I served in the military. He then was able to share his experience as a POW in WWII with me. I feel that each person has something to offer, sometimes it simply takes someone having the time to sit and hear what they need to communicate through words, song, gesture, facial expression, etc. Allowing someone to still feel needed and of worth is of utmost importance.

I so enjoy helping peopIe one on one to meet their daily and lifetime goals. I also love animals and am happy to care for them as well. I am passionate about diet and exercise, natural cleaning methods, health education, etc., but am not pushy at all and respect everyone's choices and meet people at their comfort level. I managed to get my last client off of four of her medications and helped her loose 25 lbs of unwanted weight with diet and exercise. I love learning new things, pay close attention to detail, and am open minded. The other lady I cared for had a very particular way of having me move her to and from wheel chair and in aiding in dressing. She said I did the best of any caregiver she ever had in helping her move about without causing her pain or anxiety. I became very close to her and she was like family. It is very rewarding to help people and am honored to be considered.
