I have been a professional caregiver for the elderly off and on for 15 years. I specialize in Alzheimer's and Dementia.

I have always enjoyed caring for people. It is the biggest reason I became a nurse. I have been working and continue to work in an acute care setting where I have gained alot of experience and expanded my skills with high acuity patients. On my unit we can take any adult patient but the majority of the patients we receive are geriatric. I really enjoy taking care of the elderly population. I am very easy going and understanding . I think I bring a calming presence to most patients especially in times they feel most vulnerable.

I have a beautiful baby boy who ive been home with for over a year. Hes is the best thing ive done in my entire life.

I have been a caregiver for the past 7years I have worked in Facilities and private duty. I have taken care of a variety of patients and I have had lots of training though out my career. I love what I do being able to help put the families mind at ease and making my patients feel comfortable. I have been a certified caregiver since 1982. I was among the first batch of caregivers trained by the American Red Cross in 1982. I am a very sympathetic and empathic person. I am also very patient. The personal achievement I am proud of is raising my four children and they are all university graduates. I did all these being a caregiver and that is why caregiving is my passion.

I have always wanted to commit myself to doing something meaningful in my career and I felt that becoming a CNA wold provide that while I was in school for my bachelors and next for my masters in PA studies. To be spending my days helping sick people to feel well, to help educate people in how best to take care of themselves is something that has always spoken to me. Working as a CNA has been a great opportunity because it has confirmed in my mind what I had been anticipating, which is how much I look forward to working with patients. It has allowed me to be the positive presence that I want to be in people's lives. Leaving work every day knowing I made a difference not only in someone's life but in their well-being is the most rewarding thing that I have ever done. Not only do I enjoy it because of the positive impact it allows me to make in their daily lives but also because of the way they impact me. Caring for them forces me to figure out the best way to help people feel better. Sometimes that means really learning to understand the effects of behavioral or cognitive disorders, and sometimes that means helping people cope with the pain, fear and anxiety that medical challenges can bring. It is challenging but deeply meaningful to care for patients because I get to develop a deeper understanding of how to improve the quality of life to people who rely on me and look to me for relief. My greatest personality traits and expertise that has helped me become a great caregiver is my constant open mindedness to grow and learn to become the best version of myself. My ability to bring a positive warm energy to work has allowed me to create a comfortable and safe environment for my patients. I love being an in home caregiver because I enjoy being able to give people the one on one attention they deserve. I enjoy learning the little things about a person that can give them a good day (such as wearing scrubs with pictures of cats on it for the person that loves cats). Little things like that can make a difference in being able to get a dementia patient to eat. I am also experienced in dealing with various mental health issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and schizophrenia. I'm never judgemental and strongly believe in validation therapy.
