I started caregiving about 9 years ago. I had a family member who had referred me to a caregiving job. I immediately fell in love with the work. I enjoy helping people. If I can make someone's life just a little bit better and put a smile on their face, it makes it all worth it.

Hello all! :) My name is Hope Larson, and I am 22 years old, born and raised in Weston, WI with a loving family of 6! A little fun fact to share... both of my parents are deaf, making our family fluent in American Sign Language. I have been a CNA with the same company for almost 6 years now, and absolutely love it! I primarily work on the dementia units, but also have experience working long-term Care, rehab, and the vent units. I am more than halfway done with nursing school, and am on track to receive my LPN license this month, upon passing my boards. I was actually providing in-home care for one of my nursing instructor's parents, whom happened to have progressing dementia, up until recently due to passing away. After this experience, I realized that I have a love for private care - being able to focus all of my time one patient and truly get to know their personality, their likes and dislikes, and learn their history and hear their stories without the time rush we have when in a facility. It truly makes a difference in a person's overall health when they're getting that uninterrupted holistic care. I have such a passion for caring for others and simply making people smile; life's just too short not to! If you have any questions for me, please feel free to contact me; I'd love to see if I'd be a good fit for your family!

I have the ability to turn a difficult patient/situation into a workable and fulfilling experience. I had a wonderful experience while working in a client's home as PCW. This client had a massive stroke, she was paralyzed on her L side. She also exhibited challenging behaviors. My 1st day I sat with her and remained quiet. I told her I was respecting her need for a calm environment and that I wanted her to lead in any conversation. Her family reported to my supervisor that evening that this client was very calm that evening, she ate dinner and went to bed without any challenges. They were extremely pleased with the care I provided. I love being a caregiver. I have come to realize that I thrive best in a 1:1 relationship with clients in their homes. I enjoy providing companionship while assisting with housework, shopping or going to appointments. The best part is in getting to know one another and hearing their stories of their youthful days. I bring compassion and empathy from all of my life experiences to each new encounter. I also will not leave a home if a client is experiencing an emotional or other medical setback. I wouldn't be able to relax if I felt I should've stayed with that person until family or other caregiver could replace me.

I worked as a CNA for 16 yrs (3 years as a PCW) until I went back to school for my associates in Medical Administration. I went into the field as I love taking care of others. I find it to be very rewarding, like no other career. Helping others with daily life skills, no matter what it is, brings joy to my life. Knowing I make a difference feels good. I am very professional as I have worked in the field for such a long time. I am sensitive to a person's needs as well. It is very important to me to that the client/patient is taken care of as well. At some point in our lives we all will require help. It is so important that we remember this as we care for another in need. I am looking to work the overnight shift 2-3 nights per week or 5-6 shifts in a 2-week pay period. I am available to work between 7p-9a. I am also willing to work longer shifts up to 15 hours per shift. I would like to stay around 30 per week as I am enrolled in an online Medical Transcription course presently.
