Hello my name is sonja im a certified caregiver been certified since 2011 I specialize in dementia and alzheimer i have special training for that as well. I also have lots of experience working with elderly that dont have dementia or any other memory impairments. This is definitely my calling i love being around elderly people and being able to help them in any way i can i treat them as if they were my own grandparents because i would want the same for mine

I became a caregiver because I took care of my old mother that needed help and couldn't care for herself people came in my house and did not give my mother the cares that she needed and I felt so sorry for her so I had to leave one of my job to help her. 2. Being a caregiver I like helping older people meet their needs helping them reach their goals and seeing smiles on their faces.My personal achievement that I am proud of when I go to work and I make my resident smile and they know that they have someone every day to look up to that make them to feel they are love and care for. I have been a caregiver for well over 20 Plus years. I have love and compassion for the elderly. As a child I was always close to my grandmother, when I became an adult and she got up in age. I moved back from out of town, to take care of her until she died at age 102 on Christmas Day . After the passing of my grandmother I started working as a home health care provider and showing that same love and compassion I had for my grandmother to other elderly clients. I believe in catering to the elderlies every need in their golden years they deserve to be treated with the utmost kindness and respect.

My daughter Saturday has shown me everyday what a gift it is to have such love and compassion for others and also having taken care of my elderly parents has been a gift so it is my family that attracts me to the career in Caregiving. What I enjoy most about Caregiving is knowing that I have made each day more positive and hopefully helped someone to feel better emotionally and physically. A personal achievement I am most proud of is my volunteer work at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital where I was assigned to the Oncology Unit and working just to make the children on that unit love, play, or do artwork taught me how precious life is and how even the smallest kindness matters more than we know.

I believe I am a good caregiver because I have been on both side of the experience. I started care giving when I was 19 for my great grandmother who was on hospice and getting in home care. I was young but able to understand the significance in knowing the difference between " quality of life " vs " quantity of life " . And I also saw the great importance of being able to trust your loved one in the care of a stranger. Building a repor with your client is key to a successful experience for both sides!

What makes me a great caregiver is that I have 9 years experience and I truly love being able to be of service to those in need and being that support that they can count on.
