What makes me a good caregiver is I take pride in my work, I take care of your loved ones just as you would expect. I see my clients as I would my own family. What attracted me to become a caregiver the last 6 years is when I was little girl my grandmother needed more help around the house and full filling her regular routine. Growing up my father needed the same help as he was bed bound I refused to let him go to a nursing home so I made sure to help him in anyway I could. The main thing that I enjoy most about being a caregiver is knowing that families loved ones are being taken care of and not being neglected or abused. It makes me feel whole that I can bring light back into someone's life wether it be just providing companionship or making my clients feel they are not alone. One of my biggest personal achievements I am proud of would be being a mom, taking care of my kids and also having the extra passion to take care of someone else warms my heart.

My 13 yrs experience as a caregiver. I enjoy helping elderly/disabled adults to be able to stay independent, healthy and happy. Took care of my parents and friends family that made me have a passion to help others. Realized alot of people are alone, depressed and refuse to seek help. Offered my assistance to Dr. Appts, pick up medication, encourage clients to take meds, eat, do activities, offer companionship, meal prep etc. Desired to help make a difference in other people's lives. I developed an exercise program at a nursing home. It was so rewarding to lead the group and see the progress some of the residents were able to make. A stroke victim was able to slowly increase her range of motion on the side that was practically paralyzed.

Ive been working in the health care field for about 6 years now. Whether its caring for family, family friends, and/or my residents at prior workplace. I enjoy being able to help my community in any way that I can. My prior workplace was group home for Mentally Disabled Residents. I would tend to their everyday needs. I currently work for a home health care company and care for elderly in their own homes with everyday needs. What makes me a great care giver is my extraordinary empathy and compassion for the disabled. I took care of my grandmother during the last 4 years of her life and I am very knowledgeable about disabilities and elder care. I will be attending college in the fall for a Certified Medical Assistant program.
