Hello! I have been a caregiver for a little over a year now, working in a facility and in-home care. I first decided to become a caregiver to gain some experience in the healthcare field as I am currently going to school for Nursing, and quickly fell in love with it. Caregiving gives me a sense of purpose that no other job has done before, I enjoy knowing that I am making a difference in somebody's day and helping others that may not be able to do things as easily as they used to be able to. I have met some amazing people this past year and have shared some ever-lasting moments. I would describe myself to be a kind, energetic, bubbly person who strives to make others happy and ensure that I bring positivity, as well as safety, to others around me.

The reason I choose this field is because I love helping people in need. I am a great caregiver because I am compassionate and dependable. I will give 110 percent in everything I do. I also want to further my career by going back to school to become a nurse. Not only that but I have experience working with the elderly, kids, and the developmentally disabled. So, it does not matter who I need to help I will find a way to relate to them and make their life a lot happier. As well as making living life a lot easier doing ADL's.

I have been a caregiver for 25yrs and more. I love my job, helping and caring for others. Very caring, compassion, I love to just to see the smiles. I have work at nursing working with all type of people. Taking care of my on parents before they passed away. My mother had dementia and my father cancer. I also work at the Kalamazoo Psychiatric hospital for 11yrs. I have worked with Senior Services. Then went to Grand Rapids and worked with the Veterans Now working at Medilodge of Kalamazoo been there for the last 2yrs.

I have always wanted to commit myself to doing something meaningful in my career and I felt that becoming a CNA wold provide that while I was in school for my bachelors and next for my masters in PA studies. To be spending my days helping sick people to feel well, to help educate people in how best to take care of themselves is something that has always spoken to me. Working as a CNA has been a great opportunity because it has confirmed in my mind what I had been anticipating, which is how much I look forward to working with patients. It has allowed me to be the positive presence that I want to be in people's lives. Leaving work every day knowing I made a difference not only in someone's life but in their well-being is the most rewarding thing that I have ever done. Not only do I enjoy it because of the positive impact it allows me to make in their daily lives but also because of the way they impact me. Caring for them forces me to figure out the best way to help people feel better. Sometimes that means really learning to understand the effects of behavioral or cognitive disorders, and sometimes that means helping people cope with the pain, fear and anxiety that medical challenges can bring. It is challenging but deeply meaningful to care for patients because I get to develop a deeper understanding of how to improve the quality of life to people who rely on me and look to me for relief. My greatest personality traits and expertise that has helped me become a great caregiver is my constant open mindedness to grow and learn to become the best version of myself. My ability to bring a positive warm energy to work has allowed me to create a comfortable and safe environment for my patients. I am also a very driven and dedicated person who will not walk away from a problem until it is solved or keep working until I fulfill my dreams.
