I became a care giver when my father had lung cancer, I lived with him and was his soul caregiver. I also cared for my mother in law that had alzheimer's for eight years. My brother was born with cp and had 21 surgeries over his childhood. We all played apart in his recovery he now has a job at AAA! I have worked at customer Service at Kohl's department store for eight years and enjoy working with the public meeting new people and helping people! I only work one day a week for health benefits. I'm a great Mom....I cared for my mother though her dementia. I began working full time with Alzheimer's and Dementia soon after that. The best sound I hear and actively seek is laughter with joy! I'd would be happy to go back to childcare. I've 9 years of private infant care to 3 year and beyond. Those kids are graduating high school. The best education I'll ever receive is having a little brother that's mentally challenged. He keeps me so positive! I admit I'm a tad jealous of his peace with his world, nothing phases him for long....We have a saying, 'this too shall pass'. Our precious Mom taught us well!

I have been a caregiver for over ten years. I absolutely love taking care of people and I believe that if they could most people would choose to stay in their homes and have care but sometimes it's not that easy to do medical problems or other things come into play. I'm 40 yes old and far as I can remember I have taken care of someone so this comes natural to me, I would and am very proud to say that my biggest accomplishment is me receiving my GED in 2012. I didn't get the chance to graduate high school due to family issues but I did go back and get my education.

Skills & Certifications: ALS, Alzheimer's Disease, Home Health Aide (HHA), Arthritis, Cancer Recovery, COPD, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Hearing Disorders, Blood Disorders, Home Health Care, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurological Disorders, Orthopedic Care, Parkinson's Disease, Post Surgery Recovery, Respiratory Disorders, Skin Disorders, Stroke, Vision and Eye Disorders

I became a caregiver quite by accident. I was laid off of my job and at the same time my brother in law's grandparents had reached a point where they needed help so I started working for them. I went over at 8:30 am and spent the day. Started with breakfast, fixed Ms. Ada's coffee, fed cats, made beds, cleaned house, did laundry, grocery shopping, mowed yard, transportation when needed to go to Doctor or any where they needed to go. I am a very caring and compassionate person who want's to make sure that any elderly person has the best quality of life they can have when they are not quite able to do the everyday things but are still able to stay in they're own home. Paw Paw had to go to a rest home in November 2013 and I would take Ms. Ada to see him 3 times a week. Sadly he passed in May of this year so Ms. Ada went to stay in Florida with her daughter for an extended vacation. In the mean time I still mow they're yard and check on they're house. They have a daughter that lives here and goes by everyday to pick up mail. I am proud of the fact that since I had never thought about being a caregiver I really enjoyed it and everyone in their family told me what a wonderful job I was doing and they were so relieved I came along when I did. I am registered on care.com, you can see my profile and letter of reference there. I think it is very important for anyone to be able to stay in their own home when they become elderly, I think your health stays better, you are most likely no
