I started caregiving for my grandmother who was suffering from dementia. Being a good caregiver requires a lot of patience. I provide that to people in my care and hope to assist them in ways that improve their quality of life. One of my greatest accomplishments as a caregiver was seeing someone recover cognitive ability after switching from nursing home to in home care.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I pay attention to details. I do exactly what I'm told, asked and also give advice according to my expertise and I tell the truth about what is needed when it matters. I first started working with elders within my monastery taking care of their basic needs and taking them back and forth to doctor's appointments and following their doctors care of plan. That transmitted to my professional work life as a certified nursing aide, as I work in the nursing homes and also in private home settings. It brings me joy to see those who are in need of help receive the assistance that they need without taking away their dignity and also giving them the extra help that's necessary.... at the same time allowing them to do what they can for themselves. I have a broad range going from helping those with terminal illnesses all the way to those who just need extra assistance around the house. There is no job too big or too small for me to do.

HELLO! My career as a caregiver started with a chronically ill father. Throughout my childhood and in my early teens my dad was very ill with diabetes Type 1. When I was 5 years old my dad lost his eyesight. As a preteen I participated in his care helping with blood sugar readings and Insulin injections. When I was able to drive I help out by taking him to doctor's appointments. I went away to college and lived in Florida for a few years and as my dad became progressively worse I moved home. I became increasingly involved in his care as my mother was worn out and had a very full-time job. At that point I decided to change career paths and go to nursing school. My love of taking care of people is a direct result of the experience I had administering Loving Care to my father . I considered to be a dedicated and resourceful Private Duty Nurse. I started out with the desire to be a caregiver after helping to take care of my great grandmother as a child. Also my mom and grandmother are both nurses. I enjoyed being able to help people who need help. What makes me good at what I do is my compassion. I love people, all kinds of people. I have taken care of all ages, from all over the world. I learn who they are, where they are from, what they like, and what they believe in. And from there I respect all their wishes and do everything I can to ensure they are happy and well taken care of. I can offer 24/7 live-in care in my beautiful home. I have a full apartment downstairs has full kitchen, living/bedroom and full handicap bathroom with double sliding glass doors out on patio overlooking beautiful property and mountain views. Have worked at several Nursing homes in area for almost 5 years. Also did home care for my Mom who passed in May 2017 in a special apartment built for her with all safety features in my own home . Also took care of Neighbor's Dad in my home who passed recently. Both needed 24/7 care. I have cared for many patients at nursing homes with numerous physical and mental disabilities. Dementia being the main disease. I have always been an advocate since a young boy. Did youth recreation since a junior in High School. Also volunteered for meals on wheels in Nyack York. Worked for Rockland county P. A. L. as a teen also. After retiring from 27 years with Verizon worked for Devereux in Red Hook New York. Also went back to school for L. P. N. I am a great caregiver because I truly love and care about my patients, I enjoy spending time with them and getting to know their lives and stories and personalities. I became a caregiver after I had started working in a long term care facility doing activity work. I saw the nursing assistant loved and cared for their patients and I wanted to do that too. I am most proud of overcoming my many obstacles growing up that I had and learning from them to be the best person and caregiver I can be.

I am 49, with two grown children. Caring for others is what I do best. It's in my nature to be patience, compassionate and respectful at all times. I am very clean, organized, and love to cook. I'm not afraid of hard work. My best achievement, was retiring from my career in finance to become a full time caregiver for my husbands grandparents. I became a caregiver because I love people and I feel people should have the best quality of life in there time of need. I love to help people learn new ways of taking care of themselves so they can have the best quality of life during there illness. I love the smiles I get when I arrive to start my job , I teach and clients teach me its a fabulous feeling. I made one fabulous achievement about a year ago and I will never forget it. I started to take care of a client when the client had one amputation , it was sad but we continued to do lots of stuff I had to give encouragement everyday , Then one day the client had to have the other leg removed. At this time the client was so depressed everyday was a struggle but I told the client we can still do what we did before its just going to take a little longer the clients response was," I want to go to Kohl's shopping". I said okay we can do that let me plan it out. Guess what the client went shopping at Kohl's and went to lunch, Where there is a will there is a way. I will never forget that one month later the client passed a way but the client got the shopping trip that was thought to never happen. People told me that I would not be able to do this with this client when I did they said I was one of a kind. I said no I am not I accomplished another good deed for a wonderful person. I have worked as a nursing assistant for 15 years. I have worked for nursing homes , Hospice , and acute care for Margaretville Hospital. I am CPR cert

Have been taking care of people most of my life. Have had other professions but keep on coming back to care giver. I enjoy helping people in every aspect. I clean for people in local area as well. I volunteer in the nursing home when can. I have worked doing cancer research and worked on early detection for Parkinson's disease. Worked with mentally challenged individuals and enjoyed there unique personalities. Sold and rented medical equipment - products. Many different aspects in trying to make other people lives better.
