I think what makes me a great caregiver is, that not only do I love helping people to get their daily activities done, but I have a lot of personal experience caregiving. When I first got into caregiving I was taking care of a family member who was a paraplegic, and a home health nurse came one day and told me how good of a job and how fast I was at catching on to certain things, and that I should really look into nursing and that is exactly what I did. What I enjoy most about caregiving, is that it's never a dull day, and I can go home feeling good about myself that I had actually accomplished something good for the day. My Personal Achievement that I am proud of, from being a caregiver is that I finished getting licensed in the state of Washington, and was pregnant at the time I was doing it and working a full-time job with lots of overtime I would get at least 60 hours a week. And I got it done. Right now I am going to school to get my Healthcare Administration License because my long term goal is to, travel the US and research different city's that really need home care, and open some adult foster homes for those in need.

I have a certificate as a cna and have worked in different health care settings for 5yrs. I enjoy helping other people and providing patient care. My goal is to keep patient as safe and comfortable as possible while helping keep their rooms clean. I change linens and assist with medication reminders.

1. I became a caregiver because I want to give back to the elderly that once loved and took care of me when I was younger. 2. I like the mere fact that when I assist the elderly, I'm able to make a difference in their life. For instance, I love to see them smile and that they can feel safe with me. In addition, I love to sit down and hear the stories the elderly has to say. 3. My personal achievement that I am proud of, is that I'm giving my certified nursing skills to someone that really cares and needs my help. 4. I am very compassionate and love to listen to people on what they have to say. Whether it makes sense or not. In addition, I'm a very hard worker, don't mind change, and flexible. I like to be a team player and utilize my knowledge where needed.

I have 30 years in healthcare and have also worked in the School district with Lifeskills students. I am HCA certified and have ALL my certs plus food handlers, fundamentals, CPR/First aide. I genuinely enjoy the work I do, and I try my best to go above and beyond for my clients. I never thought I'd ever do this kind of work, but now it's all I can picture for my future. Caregiving has given me opportunities to learn and grow in ways I never thought I could, and now a purpose to go into nursing and help even more people in need.

I have been in the healthcare field for 30 plus years and I love it! I have worked with a variety of individuals from young to old with Downs, ALS, Dementia, Special needs. I have also worked for the KSD and in family homes and facilities. I have CPR/First aid/fundamentals in caregiving/food handlers/various certs in continuing education. I love learning from my friends I work with at the same time I'm helping them! I also just Graduated Charter College with my Medical Assistant Certification and im doing online classes for my AA in Allied Health.

The health care field became a calling to me, when I became unhappy with the manner in which my father was being cared. I saw that most were not willing travel, as well. I was slowly able to get trained while still assisting with his care. I can empathize with patients and their families because I have been on both sides. When working with a patient, that patient is not just a number - and I will do whatever I can to help. Quite often, I am called into situations where a nurse/caregiver/health aide, etc. Has quit, did not show or had an emergency of some sort. This gives families flexibility. I want to help as much as I possibly can, in order to assist with the patient feeling as well as possible as well as the family. This includes asssisting on trips. This way the family can enjoy their time together. I also assist pre and post op, with patients, so they can get home as soon as they are ready. I have also worked with patients loved ones who need someone to stay with their spouse or relative who may be incapacitated by Alzheimers, Parkinson's disease, and many other diseases. My goal is to work with everyone.

I care about the people i care for. I treat them as if they were a member of my family. I believe seniors should have the dignity and respect they have earned. I want the very best for the ones i care for so both their families can count on the job being done to the best of my ability.

What are your personality traits or expertise that help you be a great caregiver? I have a great attitude because I love my job, I have always liked helping people with daily activities... What attracted you to being a caregiver? I love making peoples lifes easier, I love organization and the fact I feel good about myself when I go home. And when I wake up in the morning I always look forward to that day at work as well. What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? Everything about the job, and I love getting good comments from clients when I suggest we do something an easier way, they say, "wow I never thought of doing it that way" that's a sense of achievement for me. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? The fact I have learned to do just about any job as a caregiver.

I'm compassionate, punctual, and committed to providing the best quality care. I have taken care of my own family members. One with dementia and one with terminal cancer. I will never regret those moments. I love what I do. I feel I have a calling to the medical field to help people and families in need. Family is important to me. That is why my husband and daughter are one of my biggest achievements in life.
