About Letitia

Coming from a family where cancer is very dominant. I became a personal caregiver to many family members beginning at the age of 14. Seeing as how much more comfortable they were having family caring for them and being able to stay at home rather than place in a Nursing Home or assisted living facility unless it deamed necessary made me realize just how important it is to keep one suffering in comfortable surroundings and knowing they were receiving the best care possible made me realize there is no greater feeling than bringing comfort and as much joy as possible to anyone in those final days at the end of life. I care deeply for all people and it brings my heart joy in knowing they want me to be a part of their care. It is a very rewarding feeling.

Took care of my Father Eugene Ellis who was diagnosed with stage4 lung cancer. I became my father's primary caregiver moving him into my home where I monitored him closely as he also suffered from cardiovascular disease, COPD and diabetes. My father underwent radiation and only two sessions of chemotherapy which his body rejected and he was placed on life support for over a month. Upon coming off life support I was able to take him home for a few short months until it became necessary after refusing hospice to place him inpatient at Jefferson City Rehabilitation Center where he spent his last days as comfortable as possible. My Father passed April 11th 2002

Marie was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer at which time I became her primary caregiver working alongside home health services. I monitored her vitals, all personal hygiene, admistered medications until she was placed on pic line for intravenous pain meds due to inability to swallow as the cancer spread throughout her body. I helped Marie in planning her last days including notifying family and friends, funeral preparations and grief counseling for family. Marie passed after an agonizing end of constant pain with homehealth doing everything possible to make her as comfortable as they possibly could at age of 46.
