I have been a Caregiver/ CNA since 1998. I handle anything you throw my way. I have worked with people in early stages of demenita to the last stages of life ( hospice). I love the work I do because it keeps me humble. Working with people in all diferent stages in life is not for everyone. But I do believe this is my calling. Being a caregiver has also helped me become a better mother to my 5 children. Because without patience and understanding it can all go array. I'm hoping that one day I can take all the skills I have learned over the years and become a great nurse.
I became a caregiver because I took care of my old mother that needed help and couldn't care for herself people came in my house and did not give my mother the cares that she needed and I felt so sorry for her so I had to leave one of my job to help her. 2. I've been a caregiver for 20 plus years. My step mum was a nurse in a retirement home and introduced me to life as a caregiver. Caregiving gives me an opportunity to provide compassionate care for others as well as learn from them. It's what I do and what I know best. My personality and traits are best described as compassionate, easy going and articulate.
Four years ago I retired from nursing. Recently, I moved to Phoenix Arizona to be near family. I have one married daughter in Phoenix where I presently reside, and another married daughter in Peoria. My daughter and son-in-law in Peoria have one daughter and are currently expecting their second child. Prior to moving here, my most recent pertinent work experience was as a homecare non-medical provider to an senior woman in her Kansas home. Though hired as "non-medical care provider" much of my assistance with this woman did revolve around her medical needs as she was an end-stage cancer patient, as well as diabetic. I helped manage her medication schedule, transportation and ensuring she went to medical/doctor appointments. I also monitored her daily health needs such as blood pressure, blood sugars, etc. I would like to care for you or a loved one in your home, and assist you with some of your care needs. I am willing to assist with light housekeeping, meal preparations, exercise/physical therapy programs, transportation and occasional errands or grocery shopping. I enjoy reading, baking, music, walking and spending time outdoors, as well as spending time with my family. I would be delighted to come work for you! --Freida McMahon
