Being honest, caring, punctual and following instructions makes me a great caregiver. It's making a client feel comfortable about being themselves and caring about their needs that's very meaningful to me as I'm learning as I go along that not all clients are the same. My personal achievement is being able to make him/her laugh again and love life no matter what their circumstances. I have been doing caregiving for 15years.
I am a very compassionate and patient caregiver with 17 years of experience helping to care for individuals with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. I began providing care when a close friend of mine needed help caring for her sick mother. I worked with this sweet lady for seven and a half years in which I refined my caregiving skills. The bond that I build with all of my clients is unmistakably genuine and sweet. Over my career I have cared for 15 different people and each one of them and the experiences that we have shared has helped to enrich my ability to care for the next one. I am also a proud mother of two wonderful children and that in itself speaks volume about my ability to care for others. I truly care for my clients as if they were a part of my own family.

My name is Kathrina, but friends and family call me Lina. I'm 24 years old but I I have a lot of experience with caregiving. My personality traits that I believe make me an excellent caregiver are; I'm empathetic and compassionate, which I believe helps me to connect with my patients more which therefore makes the patient more comfortable with having help from someone who essentially starts off as a stranger. I also consider myself to be very positive and enthusiastic which is good in any environment. What initially attracted me to caregiving was seeing my mom do it as her profession. The joy she gets from being able to help those in need and to build real bonds with the patient and their families is something you can't get in many other professions these days. What I enjoy most about caregiving is ending everyday knowing that I helped someone in need. The personal achievement I am most proud of is the annual food and clothing giveaway I started this year with my siblings aimed to help the underserved in our communities.
I am naturally caring and compassionate person, So doing just so will gives me sense of accomplishment that I am doing something good. A personal achievement for me was when one of the toughest person I am taking care of stated that I just made him feel important and apologizes for being mean and asked me to take care of him from that day on. And when I simply cover them with blanket while sleeping and says to you " Your such a sweet person and Thank you for taking care of me every night ". And that feeling of rewardness when simply you put a smile and genuine laugh when they see you. That is an accomplishments for me, at the end of the day, I go to sleep smilling, thinking I just made someone's day. Caregiving was something I've wanted to do since I myself didn't have any of my grandparents growing up. They lived in Hawaii & Samoa, so when I started in this field of work, it filled that missing spot of building a relationship w/ the elderly. What I love about caregiving is the fact that I'm able to build a friendship with the elderly. I enjoy long talks w/ them, learning new things about their history and so forth, and making sure they're ok & in good spirits. Not to mention, learning new recipes to cook and introduce my family to a new meal :) I am a mother of 4, and am of a Polynesian descent.
