I am a nurturing person and very compassionate for people. I was attracted to being a caregiver because both of my grand parent's had Alzheimer's Disease and I played a vital role in taking care of them during their final years. It truly made me passionate about caring for others. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is giving people a better quality of life. A personal achievement that I am proud of is I just received my Associate's Degree and I am getting ready to apply to a Nursing Program this summer.
I am a great caregiver for multiple situations because of my well rounded background. I have great abilities as a healthcare provider and homemaker. Those talents range from cooking nutritional, diet tailored meals, cleaning, campanionship, personal care, monitoring medications, and transportation assistance. I became a caregiver/registered CNA after assisting my father and grandmother during their illnesses which I found very fulfilling. During the past year it has been rewarding serving so many diverse clients. I have enjoyed it immensely. I am proud to share one of satisfying achievements recently. After sugery my client came home to recover. She had multiple needs ranging from nutritional, wound care, housekeeping, pet care, food shopping and more. Not only was she over the moon with everything I was able to do for her, her doctors were very happy with her progress and wound care.
I am a retired special education teacher and became interested in caregiving when my mother suffered from a long illness. Some mistakes were made in her care by her HMO, which prompted me to want to learn more about the medical field, how to read diagnostic tests, and principles of nursing care. I have completed the CNA and HHA courses and received licenses for both. I have also taken several other classes in nursing, gerontology, and end of life care and hope to be an in-home caregiver to supplement my income. I am seeking part-time or on-call assignments as a relief caregiver, as I still substitute teach during the days during the school year.
