I am a career recruiter who has transitioned to health and fitness. I have been the primary caregiver for my Mom in SF since my Dad died 2 years ago. She is now back to exercising and baking and I couldn't be happier. She is still forgetful, but she is in her own home and happy. I am attracted to being a caregiver as I feel our seniors are forgotten about as they age (as we all age). Being active with my Mom, has helped me realize I would like to do the same with others that are closer to me in traveling distance. I just completed my personal training certification and what I'd like more than anything, is to work with seniors on keeping their bodies in motion. What I like the most is the personal reward in helping someone else. My personal achievement is having learned more patience in working with my mom and also my Personal Training certification to help others with their health.

I am a Registered Nurse currently working with a developmentally delayed individual in his home. I have worked with all age groups in a variety of settings such as in-home care, residential care, skilled nursing, clinics, hospitals, hospice, etc. I have had licensure/certification as a CNA, DA, EMT, RN and have also worked as a childcare provider, restaurant employee and manager/supervisor. I enjoy helping people enjoy their lives as much as possible. I love my children and grandchildren and enjoy living in nature. I have cared for my mother, 2 mothers-in-law, father-in-law, and other people during their last days/years.

I am a very upbeat and happy person. I love to make people smile, laugh and enjoy life. I am kind, patient, dependable, honest, trustworthy, gentle, hard working, intelligent, compassionate, understanding, and have a great sense of humor. I love animals, all of them! My favorite place to be is outdoors, primarily hiking and swimming. I truly enjoy meeting new people. I also love spending time with my family, friends, and pets. I enjoy reading, writing, board and card games, movies, cleaning, cooking. When my fraternal grandmother entered a care home when I was 12, I went to visit her every day. I was shocked to see how many elderly patients had no one who visited them. So I unofficially became a volunteer and would visit other residents; reading to them, talking, playing games, dancing, whatever brought a little joy back into their lives. Caregiving has been a part of my life ever since. I took care of my maternal grandmother who had severe rheumatoid arthritis and Dementia in her home until she passed away. I then moved my mother in with me when she was first diagnosed with Alzheimers and cared for her until her death 10 years later. I also cared for one of my brothers who was diagnosed with end stage Dementia at the age of 58 and passed away right before his 61st birthday. So I completely understand what loved ones must go through as family members become older, sick, or suffer from an injury. What I enjoy most about being a Caregiver is simply helping someone who needs it, especially if it allows them to remain in their own home. A personal achievement that I am proud of is raising such loving, kind, respectful, and amazing children.

I have been a caregiver since 2010, and a CNA since the beginning of 2018. I am currently registered with IHSS and have certifications for First Aid, CPR and AED. I enjoy caring for others and the one on one connection that comes with private clientele. I enroll in college for nursing in January.

I started as a caregiver ten years ago while looking for care for my father who was a retired Viet Nam Veteran. The agency who came to interview my father to see what his needs were, liked me so much they asked me to work for them. They are contracted through the V A and had lots of veterans who they said would benifit from my care so I stopped workung as a Dental receptionist and joined their team. My father passed away at home 3 years later in hospice during his illness I quit my job to be his caregiver and felt a strong desire to keep his legacy going by continuing to help those that can't help themselves. Just a year ago my husband had a brain aneurysm that caused a stroke where 6 months later he passed away at home in hospice where again I was his caregiver and needed to be there for him til the end. My heart goes out to familues who struggle with the pain of taking care of a loved one who is sick and even more so of a loved one who is in the end stages of life. Not only do I know how they feel but I understand their grief . I want to be the one who can comfort not only the patient but the family as well.

I lost my husband seven years ago to liver cancer felt this was a calling for me to give back i enjoy the conversation and companionship also helped my grandmother when her caregiver needed me I am also certified with the state of California And have been fingerprinted by the state of California I am interested in living inCompanion taking care of them on a permanent basis

When I first meet my future client(s) and family we get to know each other quickly. I am a relaxed easy going person who likes to make the day fun and interesting but yet work productivly while serving your family member (s). Having to re-enter the workforce after raising three daughters and graduating from college led me on a search for a career that fed my soul while serving others. I became a caregiver because a friend at church suggested it and I found it was a perfect fit. What I like most about care giving is that it is multi- faceted work. It not just about the everyday tasks it's about relationships, relating, observing and thinking creatively as to how to meet a special need, hope or want. Its about bringing my whole self into another's life and finding out what they need and then working to make it happen. Recently I was able to take a mother (Alzheimer's) and son (physical disabilities) out to Walmart to do Christmas shopping. It was a great day. The son enjoyed the day and had a great sense of accomplishment and the mom had a chance to see her son realize a goal. They both thanked me in the car on the way home and were so happy. This gave me a great sense of accomplishment as neither if them wanted to venture out much for the first few months. Now, after a year with them we plan out the day and include at least one fun adventure each week. This expands their world, abilities and enhances their lives. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have been caring for seniors in their own homes for over 20 years. I have had a variety of cases with every kind of illness. I enjoy helping seniors to enjoy quality of life in the home where they have raised families or enjoyed retirement. I have had full responsibility of med management, transportation to Dr. appointments, physical therapy, grocery shopping and housekeeping. I have supplied companionship, meal planning and preparation and enjoyed sharing in the rich histories of the seniors I have been honored to serve. I believe that I am a strong advocate for seniors and passionate about dignity and quality of life.
