I love being a caregiver because it is a very rewarding job. It is dealing with people and it has always been a great experience of taking care and they make you feel important in their life. Sometimes they even make you a part of their family. I have been a caregiver for 5 years and i love every single of it. i am a certified cna and home health aid.
I love helping people and seeing them smile. Every senior requires their own level of assistance but also like to be independent as well, I have an appreciation for everyone's abilities and love giving help and support to assist with their disabilities. I was recently the caregiver for an elderly man named Jack for the past three years. Unfortunately he has passed. Jack was 90 when he passed. I worked with him for 3 years and it was my absolute pleasure. He had Parkinson's disease as well as onset dementia and needed extensive care with most aspects of ADL's but could perform certain tasks independently. This has taught me that not all peoples limitations are the same, we must work to figure out strengths and weaknesses so we can be of assistance and not take away ones independence.
I enjoy working with the elderly, it come naturally.. I love to help people. Secondly It fits my personality and I love the flexibility. Third I was born in Panama, and went to the University for five years.. I have learned a lot including a second language . My second language is Spanish and it can be useful in my job. I love Beach, Travel, children, self motivated, outgoing, and Love nutrition. MY health is very important.
I am interested in doing the best I can on a daily basis which means giving care fits me. I was in a serious accident and lost my voice. I was able to become a caregiver by helping out around the house and driving others to their appointments. While my voice healed the job requirements changed, I did more for Bernice and her family as she started declining in her health. I was with her and her husband for about two years. I helped establish a system in their house so that they both could age without worry. I was more than a worker I became part of their family. When Bernice became bed stricken I decided to go back to school. Now I am licensed and ready for an opportunity to become successful. :->
I became a caregiver first to my grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer's it's a very sad disease to watch. But we wanted what time she did have to be as good for her as possible. Older people have always had my respect. Ive grown up in such a different way when respect was part of life and I feel compelled to continue giving them respect when they can no longer do for themselves. To nurture ,love and give quality care for them as I'd want done for my loved ones and to keep them clean happy and well taken care of. I have since been with 5 other elders through the end of there lives and have seen a litany of different needs that have taught me alot about caretaking from clients with strokes, cancer, catheters, transfers, bed baths, toileting and handling prescription care. I've also completed the training available to me pertaining to Care Taking..
I'm a very caring and patient person. I've assisted my elderly grandparents since 9 years old. Although not knowing it was an actual job, I did it because it was for them. I treat my clients as if they were part of my own family. I started babysitting at 10 from newborn to 10 years old. I enjoy helping others in whatever I'm able to.

What makes me a great caregiver I'm always in a good mood and I have infinite respect for my clients. I always try to make sure my clients are doing well and are happy. I will do my best to leave my client in better condition by the time my shift is up. I love listening to music, playing games, watching movies, and I also enjoy the little things in life. Since I live in a beautiful area, I do my best to take my clients out to the beach or on trails, pretty much anywhere that has a beautiful scene. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver was caring for my mother when she had surgery. I cared for her for about 4 months then decided to pursue a medical career. My biggest achievement is getting an A.S. in medical assisting from Cuesta College and my state of California Phlebotomy license
