I became a caregiver to take care of my friend's mother who, was in her nineties while he traveled. When I was completing my externship for medical assisting, the doctor I worked for recognized my true calling with seniors, who always asked for me to attend them. I am pursuing my HHA certificate and am willing to take other courses to enable me to offer the best care possible. My parents are elderly and I understand the aging process first hand, wanting to ease their problems as much as possible. I graduated with high honors and perfect attendance from Medical Assisting College which I'm very proud of. I'm a very hard and good worker that learns quickly and also follows direction. I have received my certificate as a Home Health Aide and plan to complete my CNA certification.
I became a caregiver because I love to help people. The passion for working in this field came when my grandmother took ill and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I than began classes so I could learn what to do and how to provide the best care. That was over 10 years ago and I have been doing this ever since. Loving It I must say :)

1. As a teenager I was a Candy Striper I assisted many Vietnam-War Veterans, let me tell you something the first week was very emotionally tasking,I like everybody. From there I took x-ray classes at a Hospital based program, where I graduated with many awards and !st. position in my class. After I retired from T. G. H., Tampa, Fl. from the Quality Assurance LabsI was approached by Kernon Su Casa @ Tampa to be a activity director did take the,job and loved it.I had 10-15 clients (residents ) at the time.Whom I treated like Family, with Dignity and Respect, 2.As a caregiver I felt I was very good @ what I did, I will do personal favors for all the residents or different clients, I will taking shopping, all the clients were different with many talents and needs. 3. One of my proudest personal achievement was, How do I put this in words, it doesn't matter,or faces me how difficult the task that I have to do:I used to teach the residents (clients) including doctors, nurses, cna and caregivers how to used a glucocemeter.....they relay in my performance. 4. Very simple. I am a people person.
When I think back through my life of how I've gotten to where I am today, I would have to say I've always been a Caregiver. In fact I really think that God put within me the traits needed to fulfill what my purpose in life would be, to Care for people. Empathy and Compassion for the struggles and needs of people, come from the difficult times I've had throughout my life and gratitude for those who came along to mentor and offer compassion to me. Being a Caregiver has been a natural progression from being a caregiver to my family and close friends (3 Grand Parents with Alzheimer's disease, 3 Children, and now 4 Grand Children) to taking care of Children in my own State Licensed Home Daycare for many years, to being a substitute teacher and teachers aid, and working with a Widow's Group in my Church. The final decision to use this passion for people and pursue the training to be a professional caregiver, came at a crisis point in my life when I became the caregiver and legal guardian/conservator for my youngest son who at the age of 24 was hit by a van and was hospitalized for 2 1/2 months for a Traumatic Brain Injury. He was in a coma for a month with two years of rehabilitation after leaving the hospital. Going through that traumatic experience with my son also put me around many other people experiencing life changing events, whom I was able to help by encouraging and giving information I learned along the way. People need each other and God put us hear on this earth to be His hands and feet, to be caregivers, Helping one another...It is my passion to help those who desire and need the help.
Along the way of being in the medical field I have learned that a lot a lot of people in the medical field look at their job as just a paycheck, I on the other hand do not I look at Patients like they are my grandma my grandpa my mother my father my sister my brothers and I am genuine caring and kind and I listen not just hear but listen two patients. It brings me joy and happiness it fills my heart with love when I know that I'm helping a patient with whatever the task maybe if it's just being there to hang out with the patient companionship or prepping meals for them reminding them of their medications to take or help cleaning the house for them to me that means the world to me
